Guys, What software do you use for converting movies to mp4 for the iPad? I use iSquint, but even at the highest resolution, it doesn't come out too nice in the iPad. Any suggestions?
Yes, but i have some problems with it. When i try to convert my 720p mkv videos and some divx vids, it converts them to .m4v which is not compatible with my iphone and ipad... I think the ipad and iphone use .mp4 only. Is there a way to change the output in handbrake? are Evom and Videora freeware?
One thing I discovered recently that works really really fabulously is Air Video! It doesn't really convert your file for iPad per se, but it streams it from your Mac/PC to your iPad almost seamlessly. Really fantastic, you gotta try it to believe it. Leo
I tried converting a 1280x688 file to ipad max res of 1024x768 using Videora Ipad converter. The output becomes 640x344 lang. I expect something like 1024x512. Anyone got an idea why? Ano other converter that can use ipad maximum resolution after aspect ratio adjustment (it must at least use the maximum 1024 which is the horizontal length if watching in landscape mode).
For Videora, i got it for free from a friend. in Videora, i select the Power Mode then AppleTV format H.264 720p... conversion resulted to widescreen and best viewing on landscape
I chose H.264 720p too pero after conversion, hindi pa rin maximum after I use mediainfo to check the resolution of the output file
To set iPhone as target format in Handbrake, click Toggle Presets (upper right of the screen). Then click Apple-->iPhone and iPod Touch.
mmm.....I wish someone could get the tech companies to work together and just work on one standard so we can do away with this conversion rubbish. My vote is still with never-fail Handbrake.
i don't think that's workable the problem not only with the file format, sometimes you also have to convert because of resolution or screen size or your media players processing speed. for example, something that can play on your laptop might not be able to play on your iphone/ipad because the processor of the gadget can't cope.
I use Handbrake for my vids, I use the apple tv profile, good results across the board with both HD and SD videos.
Plus one for Handbrake. I just bought the original DVD of Avatar and currently using Handbrake to rip it for the iPad. It's taking quite long though as I'm just using a Macbook Air with just a 1.6 GHz processor. I did a test conversion of one chapter using the Apple TV preset (740 x 480) and it did very well. I couldn't explain this but the video even runs smoother in the iPad (1GHz?) compared to my 1.6 GHz MBA.
I noticed that when using h.264 compression, the estimated time for it to finish is quite too long and sometimes overwhelming. Dont Worry, after awhile, the progress bar would really speed up. H.264 is like a hard start engine, but after it heats up, it's good all the way. IMHO. I use my mbp c2d and iskysoft imedia converter, visual hub, or fop compressor. My settings for iPad video is h.264 apple tv or if it's not stated, I custom set the size to 1024 to 768 at 30fps.
