folks, as some of you know, the beta version of macOS Sierra has been seeded. we can discuss its features here, subject again to our usual policy--do NOT discuss your experience and discoveries as an Appleseed tester--you are still covered by your NDA. you MAY however quote other sources online (and there are many) to point out interesting features and problems. so discuss other experiences (and source them properly--unsourced material will be taken down) but not your own, many thanks.--the mods

I don't want to mess with beta versions of sierra. I'll just wait for the official version to come out.
needless to say, beta software isn't for everyone, especially the risk-averse. in fact, people won't get this beta software unless they signed up for the developer program, which has tons of warnings about the dangers.... which if course hasn't stopped more than a few (especially those with legitimate reasons to use it, primarily software development and troubleshooting) to venture into the unknown. somebody's got to do it
as a beta tester (talking about the experience of a tester, not about the beta itself), i always, always back up (clone, in fact) my hard drive before installing the new software. this means i can revert pretty easily to my previous state if anything awfully goes wrong. i've experienced a few hiccups in betas over the years, as may be expected, but nothing fatal.
Apple is getting better and better with their beta releases, even the Developer Preview or Public Beta 1 - it is pretty stable. I use it on two computers, MacBook Air and iMac.
I just downloaded the beta considering this is the final version of it. Since Sierra is coming out on Sept. 20
No problem so far... macOS Sierra GM running now on MBA. It is snappy too. I installed it after I received email from Apple giving me access to GM version of OS10, watchOS3 and macOS Sierra.
