To play video files on iPhone, you need to convert your video to iPhone friendly format first. The Video Converter Ultimate to convert the video to iPhone video conversion. The app provides iPhone preset so that you can directly choose the preset to let the program set the video format.
I have av hd player and vlc, for av you have to pay but it has more features, while vlc is free but it plays more format.
I would also like to recommend Infuse 2. Great UI and very smooth app. I think its better than VLC. HTH
Medyo apektado nga quality pag hd yung movie sa vlc eh. But it is relatively a good quality since it is free.
cinexplayer! drop ur mkv with dts or dd+ audio thru itunes. no conversions. only app that handles mkv files.
Definitely not the only app that handles mkv files, i used AVPlayer HD before and use NPlayer now (pretty icon), both handle mkv files easily.
jonathan, im using the ipad air and ipads 3 and 4. i dont see anything wrong using cinexplayer. i wont recommend it here if it doesnt do the job for mkv properly. besides, its the only mkv player around with support for dts playback. even infuse doesnt have that
using ipad air and ipad3 too, im sure it does the job, im just saying that it's not the only app that handles mkv files like you said- "only app that handles mkv files."
i use only nPlayer on my iPad 2 and iPhone 5s. the app has a very intuitive UI, can handle lots of common formats, and can playback from any network storage / media server. money well spent, in my opinion.
I use VLC player for smallish files that i dont feel like converting. But for bigger video files i prefer to convert to save space and squeeze more videos on my 5s. Also noticed that battery drains quicker when playing unconverted vids. This is crucial especially when on long flights and you want to keep yourself entertained.
ohhh, never really took note of the effect on battery life, hehe. but then again, that's the reason i bought a separate powerbank
