    Question guys:

I have an old mac mini with this spec:

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_mini/stats/mac_mini_g4_1.25.html

I checked on this system's stock HD and found this:

    40.0 GB (4200 RPM)

the first drive crashed 3 years ago and had it replaced with an 80G drive, which crashed more than a year and a half ago to be replaced by a 160G. Now after powermac installed the drive, i wasn't able to check this until a month and when i checked it, it works for a while then it goes to sleep mode even while you are doing work on it. once it goes to sleep mode and move the mouse to bring it back to active state, it will go back again to sleep mode after a few minutes which will annoy you to death.

    Now the question is:

does it matter if you installed a drive that has a faster rpm than the original one? I'm thinking that i installed a 5400 rpm on this one. I know on cloned pc this is not an issue.

    Thanks in Advance :)

Sleep and speed are remotely related. Try to find out why your hdd is sleeping often. Uncheck "Put hard disk to sleep when possible" in System Preferences>Energy Saver.
