Within the past year, I've had the pleasure of using Huawei's popular and spec-worthy Ascend Mate 7 and Samsung's equally competent Note 4, one after the other. In a nutshell, the former's size, fingerprint scanner, dual sim option, huge battery (though not as long-lasting as expected) and very capable hardware won me over. I am pretty sure a tear fell (invisibly) when I had to let it go. The Korean powerhouse was no slouch either. I had the dual sim version (from HK) and it was every inch a bang-for-the-buck device.

Now that the newer models have arrived in the form of the Mate S and the 5th generation of the venerable Note line - both delicious looking and just as well-equipped, I am understandably torn (like Mary MacGregor).

I am truly hoping that those with first-hand experience could help me out of this pickle. Online reviews are great, but they can't hold a candle to real-life and day-to-day usage. I would very much appreciate the pros and cons and qualified inputs of those who have handled either or both.

    Thank you in advance!

I don't have first hand experience using both devices...

I used to own a Note 2 and now an S6 Edge.

My vote goes to the Note 5.

Samsung will definitely release a Marshmallow update next year.
Camera is great with 4K video recording (I can't confirm if the Ascend Mate S can record 4K).

You'll also love the quick charge feature and the improved finger print sensor.
