    playmo.tv is also a VPN seller right? much like unblock.us / strongvpn / astrill / hidemyass .... ?

Sana someone could test all these VPN sellers and tell us which among them provides the best speed for people in the Philippines. Parang same prices lang naman sila, sino kaya pinaka mabilis? Is there a way to check?

Ah ganun ba? cge try ko nga i check pag nakuha ko na bago kong router hehe. by the way, can you guys post what your ISP/speed is and if yung nakukuha nyong video quality sa netflix is parang DVD or HD na.

If im using PLDT 3Mbps package, do you think kaya na nya yung HD quality? Dadaan pa din kasi sa VPN eto so usually 50% ng speed matatangal... so thats around 1.5Mbps nalang. then I wont get the perfect 1.5Mbps naman baka 1Mbps lang makuha ko or less...

Pero in your case, how's the quality ng video? para bang VCD/DVD/HD/Bluray?

the unblock-us service, all you have to do is edit your router settings, connection speed will still be the same. that's based on experience. I used it for around 3 months, iirc. I just had to discontinue the card I was using for that subscription. btw, I didn't try Netflix, I tried hulu and radio streaming like pandora and spotify. My connection is myDSL 1mbps only, SD streams of tv shows from hulu is nice and I rarely encounter buffering. hth

Good luck. Hopefully Netflix would be available in our country soon enough.

Actually it is very easy to get Netflix from outside US.

You will need a VPN service (unblock-us, playmo.tv, hidemyass ...) and a US prepaid card.
After that you can buy Netflix gift cards to keep the account active

Is it easy to set up VPN on Apple TV? I have a VPN account (hidemyass) and watch using my iMac. It would be great if I can do it also on the Apple TV

Those who are living outside the U.S., I found a website how to set up free vpn(it's legal, don't worry). I tried to post it here couple of weeks ago but apparently the link was not approved by the mods. Just send me a PM so I can give you the link.

There is no minimum internet speed for Netflix because they implement adaptive streaming. However, the quality of the stream is bad (even after we switched to a 3mbps dsl speed from a 2mbps globe tattoo stick). It seems that the tolerance in switching video quality is too low. To get the HD stream to work, they say speed should be at least 8mbps.

I get about DVD quality video and surround audio over my 1.7 Mbps PLDT MyDSL connection.

You can actually limit the bandwidth Netflix uses: Go to "Manage Video Quality" in your Netflix "Your Account" page. Available settings are:

    • Good Quality: up to 0.3 GB per hour (0.667 Mbps)
    • Better Quality: up to 0.7 GB per hour (1.55 Mbps)
    • Best Quality: up to 1 GB for SD (2.27 Mbps) or 2.3 GB for HD (5.23 Mbps)

I don't know the history of that post (i'm looking into it) but if it was not approved it was for a good reason. Why circumvent it through a PM?

I don't know either why it wasn't approved. People post post here link for paid VPN services, so I thought posting a link for free VPN services was OK, too. But of course, I know you guys have good reasons why it wasn't approved. I just wanted to share it to those who don't want to use paid VPN service. Please delete my previous post about the PM if it's not allowed. Cheers!

Haha. I'm not familiar with Netflix on iPhone but on apple tv,it's supposed to be on the initial UI along with the suggestions, recently watched, genre and etc. Well, thanks anyway. :)
