Identity Crisis! 2 of the 'more mainstream' new wave acts. They say otherwise but to me, The Smiths is new wave
My DAC and Tidal ended my vinyl itch. None of my vinyls sound better than my Tidal+DAC+amp in an A/B listening test. Not that I'd sell my vinyls, especially my classic jazz albums, but my turntable (entry-level Rega RP1) is probably the "weakest link". But then, the manufacturer of my DAC and amp, Schiit Audio, revealed this prototype: It looks expensive, but all except one of Schiit's products are under $2,000, so this will probably be one of the best-sounding turntables for the money—like most of Schiit's products. What Apple has become, my de facto choice for computers and smartphones, Schiit has become for my audio cravings—DAC, amps and, soon, turntable too. Edit: A retailer tested the prototype, which was said to be as quiet as a VPI Prime ($4,000). Retailer said that Schiit is targeting to price its TT between $300 and $800. Knowing Schiit, they'll probably make a base model, then provide upgrade options (speed controller, tone arm, etc.)
i have the The Smiths box set. i had it pre-ordered via amazon but i had to wait 16 months before i could actually play the vinyl's. wala pa kasi akong turntable, amp, speakers when i bought the set :d
are you still using the stock phono cartridge? i think its a Red Ortofon if im not mistaken. upgrading your phono cartridge is the best and cheapest way of improving the listening experience. after all, that needle is the one "reading" our vinyl's
hahaha nice one. dude, the waiting was unbearable. i even asked my mom to hide the damn set! but the wait was worth it. Johnny Marr's inputs during the remastering is remarkable and after listening to all of the albums, i have come to the conclusion that Meat is Murder is the best album of The Smiths. Morrissey would not argue that.
True. Last week i replaced stock cartridge of our rega P1 with bias 2. Even wife noticed the difference. The only reason (other than funds) I've not upgraded to a USD2k TT, is the fear of it soundng like our emotiva erc3 cdp or our cambridge audio cxn
^ been on that road as well bro... well a way way cheaper road than yours Scored a mint INXS Kick earlier. Love this album. Read a lot of good feedback o.n Bias 2. Keeping the development and production in-house was a bold but absolutely briliant decision.
2 of our best sounding records: Julia Fordham (UK, 1988) & EBTG (Germany, 1990). Both 1st pressing. Great finds by a friend from the 'tiangges' of Germany
I have seen all their vinyls, but I only decided to collect my favorite three. Rest in peace, Mr. Becker. And thank you for the music!
