About 90% of the audience left right after the mid-credits scene and missed the last scene also. I enjoyed this movie more than the last avengers film also. When trailers came out I wondered why it was the Scott Lang Ant Man instead of the Henry Pym Ant Man, but Marvel did right by Henry Pym here. How many muggers remember Henry Pym as Yellowjacket?
Paul Rudd... Alicia Silverstone's love interest in Clueless (lucky bastard) and Brian Fantana in Anchorman... is Ant-Man. At first, I didn't think it would work. But as I eventually saw the movie, it worked for me.
The movie was fun! I was unsure about the movie as I'm not a fan of shrinking men or women, I don't necessarily see the appeal but I do love Paul Rudd. So what the hey! Went & watched it. It was funnier & better than I expected. Ant-Man wasn't something I read growing up but I do know of his role in founding the Avengers. I'm crossing my fingers that the next Ant-Man movie will feature the newly minted superheroine Hope. The post credit scenes made me excited for Captain America (aka Low-key Avengers 3 LBH) too! Ugghh Marvel!!! (I'm cheating on DC)
it turned out to be a lot more fun than i expected a new, "small" superhero movie to be. good script, good acting, sympathetic characters, and just the right touch of humor--nothing too smart-alecky or too slapstick. great visual effects, too. a definite must-see.
to be honest i have rarely enjoyed superhero movies, but this one is one of those gems that has enough wit, depth in story, and good pacing--definitely worth watching.
Lots of comments about Paul Rudd so far, but I thought Michael Peña really stole the scenes. In fact... Spoiler: Spoiler Alert I just realized that Michael Peña actually ended the movie (which isn't much of a spoiler, I know. But still)
Paul Rudd in This is 40. Paul Rudd in Anchorman. Paul Rudd in basically anything. He's like Chris Pratt, who doesn't take himself seriously and is just naturally funny.
Yes, Michael Peña was a scene-stealer. Not OA scene-stealer but one that actually made some of the scenes even more enjoyable.
This is a breath of fresh air a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, the action scenes are not eye straining which is a stark difference from the DC hero movies that seems too dark and tries to be too serious
