Ive downloaded the new version of yahoo voice...asked my relatives abroad also MAC users to download it so we wont be SKYPE dependent. But as we tried it out-we were not able to hear one another OR not connecting properly?...What follows after the attempt to use the YM voice call function is: a voice mail alert EMAIL from yahoo will be sent to me with an attachment of her voice in mp3 format...What causes this? Anybody out there having this same problem?

Added info : we have different OS's. I have leopard and she uses tiger. Does this count as one of the reasons why YM voice doesnt work with us?

Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks.

as the website of yahoo says, its still in the beta version so you will expect bugs, problems to appear. Try to contact yahoo for such problems, they give fast service.

    @ no read no write

I understand that YM is still at BETA stage and in trial mode...just cant wonder why "others are working" and mine's not.

oh well-- unfortunately i have to wait further...

And yeah. Ive reported to the customer care of yahoo...

and got this as their reply:

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in the long-awaited Messenger
    for Mac version 3.0!

The feature you have written us about is a feature of Yahoo! Messenger
for Mac 3.0. While in the Beta testing period, this feature is
unsupported, which means, unfortunately we cannot assist you with it at
    this time.

However, there are a couple of things you can try.

First of all, the Messenger Mac Online Help has all of the information
we currently have on this new product. Please review the online help
pages for Yahoo! Messenger Mac 3.0 located here:

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/mac/mac3

If you are having problems with Messenger not loading, (You try to
launch it but the wheel just keeps spinning!) you can try the following:

    1. Quit Y! Messenger
    2. Open a Finder window (the Mac icon on your dock)
    3. Click on your user name on the left side
    4. Open the "Library" folder
    5. Open the "Caches" folder
    6. Open the "Yahoo! Messenger" folder
    7. Drag files in that folder to the Trash
    8. Click the back button twice until you are back in "Library"
    9. Open the "Preferences" folder
    10. Find the files that start with com.yahoo.messenger
    11. Drag them to the Trash
    12. Start Y! Messenger

If you are still unable to resolve your issue, and it is critical to your
use of Yahoo! Messenger, you may want to uninstall Messenger for Mac 3.0
and install a previous version of Messenger that has been approved for
General Release. You can download the previous version Yahoo! Messenger
    for Mac (v2.5.3) here:

    http://messenger.yahoo.com/messenger/download/mac.html

While Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 is in the Beta testing phase, you can
submit feedback to the product development team by completing the
    feedback form located here:

    http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/messenger/cgi_beta_mac_feedback

Again, thank you for your interest in Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0! We
know you have waited a long time. The wait is nearly over!
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Messenger.

    Regards,

I see, i do have the latest ym installed as well, do have some bugs, but not the voice (have not tried voice yet)

perhaps you can try to uninstall it completely ( user-> library -> preference ) remove com.yahoo.messenger3.plist and similar things there related to ym
    and re install...

its the only solution that i know :D
