Hi Guys, I just have my first Mac (finally) and since i'm a lifetime PC user (im a software engineer) I am quite confused on handling some setting up problems in Mac. One of this is whenever I sign in in YM (ver 3.0 Beta 2) it always displayed the error "application cannot connect to messenger server” server busy... i found (and already done) in the net that i need to change the YM's connection setting to "Default" from "Behind Firewall" option. but still I cannot sign in in YM. Anyone who already solved this?
i install ym (ver 3.0 Beta 2) in my macbook before and it always crash after i log in. what i did was i uninstall the application then i reinstall it but same thing happened (it crash before i log in). i found a work around by uninstalling it again and downloading different dmg file from different site (not from yahoo). and like miracle it works. sounds weird but it works.
mind sharing this installer from that different site for I am also really annoyed of my YM crashing all the time.
try reinstalling your copies of YM. get it here. and remember that the version is still in beta. there are other alternatives to YM though.. like Adium.
@xyno i believe i download it from the versiontracker site. though they are just the same (3.0b2.78326). i dont know why the one from versiontracker works but the one from yahoo doesn't. i also experience some crashes though, but it is not frequent. maybe because it is still in beta. by the way, my isight works great when i use it in ym (OT: i also recommend iglasses, very nice little app to enhance your isight)

Very very true... this is where the PC leads the Mac. Although you can use Skype for Mac to make video calls but its just not the same as using your YM to make video and voice calls to those on your contacts list. Yes, Adium works fine but lacks some features like BUZZING your contacts and Video and Voice Calls.
By the way, the latest Beta version of YM now includes voice capabilities so we're no longer that far behind... HTH
the new YM already has voice and video calls na. You can try adium which is a great alternative to ym but unfortunately, adium doesn't voice call. You can install skype for your voice calls na lang
hi guys, i need your help, everytime i open my yahoo mail on my mac the page hangs, i cant do anything with it, even choosing an email or deleting one. =( im wondering coz i tried opening my mail on my pc in the office it works great.. i dont know what's the problem... help! Anybody experiences this one? Thanks =)
are you on Yahoo Mail Classic? For some reason, it also hang on me when im on the Yahoo Mail Beta version thats why i switched back to the classic.
@juicyy: safari version 3.0.4 @ripac: i also tried to reset it, even closed it but no luck. @trebb22: yup im using the beta version of yahoo mail. maybe il switch back to classic if thats the reason. Thanks for your reply guys!
I accidentally un-ticked the ""Show display images in my messenger list" in preferences, and my ym is performing smoothly now. no more slowdowns, crashes... it's worth a try for those who are experiencing slow downs and crashes with their ym's...
Anybody else experiencing frequent crashes lately? Or sometimes it won't crash but disconnect by itself then reconnect?
yup, i've been having this problem since i installed ver 3. i also noticed that it doesn't allow me to choose the visibility option for each of my contacts or group of contacts. would anyone have an idea on how to address this? thanks heaps.
