Yahoo Messenger: Isight not recognized

were you able to use it with YM before?

 

I think it's a driver issue in YM's end. You might want to read this and this.

 

My observations is that YM app only checks the availability of your iSight during start-up. That means if you're using your iSight in other apps while starting YM it will be grayed out or not recognized.

Yahoo should add iSight detection every time YM became the active window so it will be recognized again and again if you're using the iSight in other apps or not.

 

Would you suggest then that if I want to use YM, I should start my laptop (Macbook) with it and it alone? I use gmail video chat too, and it works perfectly. But when I switch to YM iSight doesn't work.
Last night my sister was able to see me on Yahoo but no audio.

This morning, it was the opposite. We could hear each other, but not see each other.

Has anyone been frustrated with the different layout of YM on Mac and PC/IBM?

 

I tested this phenomenon by turning on Photo Booth first then YM. YM's cam is greyed out. I then closed Photo booth and restarted YM. YM cam then worked.

 

OH MY GOLLY BANANA IT WORKED! Now all I have to do is experiment with a friend on YM.
With this, have you run into any trouble where your video worked but audio didn't (and vice versa)?

My YM cannot detect the iSight too. But it works fine on Photobooth and iChat.
YM Preference for webcam - video source is grayed out...


I already tried reinstalling YM, and resetting PRAM, but still the same.

Make sure YM is the first app to use the camera after booting.

 

^ Yes it is. Anyway, I uninstalled the current version and installed the old version beta 192773 and iSight was recognized and working fine.

 

had this problem when i first installed, too. i just restarted ym and it worked right after.

 

guys, bakit everytime i connect the ipod touch to itunes nawawala ang webcam ko sa ym? kelangan ko pa idisconnect ang ipod para lang maging okay ang webcam...

 

Sorry Wippy: I haven't encountered that problem yet (iTunes problem/webcam problem). Although to those reading this feed/topic, there are times when I call mom or dad via Yahoo Webcam, the camera doesn't activate even though I instruct the messenger to "request to view webcam". So the only way for the camera to work is if THEY REQUEST TO VIEW CAMERA from their end.

 

Kailangan bang may webcam din yung ka-YM para gumana yung webcam session? I just wanted kasi to try kung makikita ako ng ka-YM ko na walang webcam.

When I tried it kasi, gumagana naman on my end yung webcam and even see myself and can even invite a person for a webcam session. Pero di naman ako nakikita ng ka-YM ko.

BTW, PC/Windows gamit ng ka-YM ko.

Weddingsinger - good to know it worked. So if it worked after you rebooted, are you also suggesting that YM should be the first program you load as soon as you start-up? There's a couple of threads somewhere where one user suggested that if your YM isight isn't recognized, quit YM. Then turn on your iPhoto - then quit. Then turn on your YM and wait for iSight to register/recognize.

Another question for YM users out there. I can't use my BUZZ feature on YM for Macs. Am I the only one with this problem? Are there are other features that I can't use?
