hello, iPad users and enthusiasts! here's a big boost (and a must-have? you decide!) especially for the low storage capacity iPad 1/2 models! Seagate GoFlex Satellite articles here: Press Release Review (by CNET) of course i wouldn't leave out Engadget's take on it too! more pics here (courtesy of Engadget): Unboxing & using together with the iPad hope WD isn't too far away or won't take too long to compete with this baby!
just to clarify, one can just leave the apps in his/her iPad and use the seagate hard drive for the rest of the iPad's contents (e.g. photos, videos, etc.)?

i'm definitely getting this one, once it's out. i just hope the battery really lasts the indicated 4-5hours streaming.
Definitely a nice device.. But disconnecting to an internet is a no go for me. Plus you can't swipe your next photos while viewing it. Hmm __________________________ Sent from my iPod touch 4G using Tapatalk
That will be the first thing imma buy once I arrive at CMH this coming June 2nd. That's niceee! I just hope that it's future proof. Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
We gotta love technology! I really like how they're going forward with "wireless" tech. ;-D Well they mentioned that support for Thunderbolt (Seagate said it would introduce a Thunderbolt connector in the future. NICE!!!) would also come which is another plus for our 2011 MBPs and iMacs! (-- ,) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
According to Engadget, battery is good for 4-5 hours. That is equivalent to watching 2.5 movies in one go. Since the price is 199.00, I might as well go for a bigger capacity iPad than to buy a small capacity iPad and lug around this HDD. I can always erase movies that I've already watched. Although I'm very very impressed with the tech. If they can make the unit smaller and increase the battery life, I'm definitely getting a unit.
So wait, I'm still confused. How will my iPad connect to the device and how will the device connect to the internet? (iPad 2 -> SG GoFlex S -> WiFi) ?
i ordered an iPad 2 16gb wifi only because of this. having my friend pre order the go flex satellite on best buy.
From how I understand it, your iPad will have an ad hoc connection to the GoFlex Satellite, but the time you're connected to it, you won't be able to access any other WiFi network. Oh and it can stream to 3 different devices simultaneously pa pala.
So it's sole purpose is for accessing and streaming files only? you cant surf the net like how a portable wifi device provides wifi? Sorry. Really confused.
Yeah, from what I gather. It's just really used to extend the storage capacity of the device. I don't think it's meant to be like a portable router that provides internet to connected devices. But of course, this is only how I understand it.
......no internet required. No internet surfing either when media is being streamed to the receiving device. The short of it is this is just an external hard drive with wifi streaming capability and rechargeable battery for on-the-go storage. 500 gb for USD200.00 plus plus......that's expensive considering that the only add-ons are a rechargeable battery and wifi streaming. For price reference, an external drive with this capacity cost about USD50.00. Impressive indeed.....(it's just another expensive way to watch movies etc.).
