Hi Sir Charlie and fellow Philmuggers!

I saw a friend posted about this Philips Hue so I got interested and was surprised that it is only available in Apple Store but unfortunately Philippines is not included.

Will there be a chance that this will be available in Digital Hubs? I like the idea of remotely controlling the lights in the house especially in the kids room since they sneak out and stay up late during school nights.

    Product details:

    Philips hue

    Apple Online Store US:

Philips Hue Connected Bulb - Starter Pack - Apple Store (U.S.)

    Cheers!

    Miguel

This is doubtful because of the US voltage being only half of ours. If Philips made an EU version then that would be something else

There's a way around this though. Use a step down transformer on a floor lamp.

But it would defeat the energy efficiency of LEDs. Whether the LEDs are on or not the transformer would be sucking down power

You're right, scrap that idea lol. But isn't the LED bulbs itself controlled by a standby device which is also drawing power?

I bought the Philips Hue starter kit in Singapore and just wanted to let everyone know that it works in the Philippines as well.
The bulbs work out of the box with a nice, golden-tinged light.

Now, if I can get internet to my Wifi-router, I might even be able to change the color ...

Any update on whether there's alternative source for these lamps? I've read that unofficially the US 110v version still works on 220v. If there's a way to get the UK version I'd do that but maybe getting the 110v version maybe be the only option just to try this thing.

I'm planning to buy at amazon and also seeing other brands as well but they're all on 110v
