thanks for the info, guys. am going to be doing baguio, iloilo, cebu, and tacloban in the next 10 days, and at least now i know where to go in the big cities.
While you're at Tacloban try passing by Calle Zaragosa they're known for their mean bulalo. Great to eat after a few beers.
Hi do you happen to know if they will be planning to set up one in the School of Econ or Business Ad. ? Can't wait to try out my APX ;D
VP Butch, We'll be deploying an 802.11g access point in the BOR Room tomorrow. Hope you can make use of it during meetings there.
Students and faculty of Ateneo are provided with free wifi access in certain areas of school as well quad 3, library steps, calf up, main caf, quad 2, faura.. and i'm not sure where else.. ginoledesma knows i think coz he set up my ibook for school's wifi
Buti pa ateneo... kmi sa up wla pa... sniff sniff hahahahaha although i just read that there's one available in the College of Engg. which is quite far from where im based.
Jumbo, the School of Econ and CBA expressed their interest in setting up a hotspot but we're waiting for them to purchase the access points. So far, no news about it from them. Maybe you can ask them to buy it quickly so we can deploy it.
Hi I just got this reply from UP Diliman Computer Center: Webmail Technical Support U.P. Computer Center as of now, the only hotspot available is the engg lib. there will be more coming, like the mainlib, econ, BA, AS, etc. hold your breath, malapit na. Cant wait! hehehe Just curious directx, how much does it cost to set up a wifi spot?
In Baguio... (that i know of) * Filling Station, Camp John Hay * Got.Hub, 3rd Level SM City * Starbucks, Ground Level SM City * Bayantel/Sky Internet, Upper Session Road near the rotunda will add more as soon as i find them...
i was asking this guy at faura who was using his laptop if the school offered free wifi access, he told me it wasn't free daw! baka na-weirdohan lang kasi i approached him from out of the blue haha that's good to hear! thanks for the info
You just need around 8-9K for the access point and just make sure that there is an ethernet port near the location of your access point and that there is a free switch port in the premises. And oh, you need your webmail account to be able to use the UP hotspots.
Got.HUB in SM Baguio in Session Road is an unsecure wifi hotspot -- which means its free I was about to ask them how much they charged for internet access until i got a connection and was able to surf free of charge. hehe. of course, i didnt tell them.
Villman sells the Linksys Wireless B router for only P5,500 and the Wireless G router for P7,000. In the U.S., you can find great deals, like a Wireless Access Point + PCI card combo for $50 only. It's getting really cheap now.
