Anyone else here into collecting whiskey? I just started - a bit late in the game as prices have gone up by a lot already (and still forecast to go higher).
Here is what I am keeping until the right return-on-investment comes :)
    • Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt 17 Year Old Blended Malt Whisky, Japan
    • Suntory Hibiki Special Collection Ceramic Decanter 21 Year Old Blended Whisky, Japan (2014)

I'm not sure if it can be considered as a "collectible", but I'm keeping a bottle of Green Label (discontinued in 2012)

Do you really collect? When do you plan to drink these whiskies?

I was able to score a Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique during my recent trip to Taiwan. It was sold out in all Kavalan & King Car stores but I was able to buy one from a reselller.

I love whisky as well and I always drink it neat. I don't really collect them or any other collectible worth collecting. I always have black label at home to drink. I like Ardberg, Glenmorangie, Laphroaig (end note is like diesel if you drink it neat), Glenlivet, Glenfiddich and many others. Whisky is always great with sugar.

With sugar? That's new to me. How much sugar do you add to whisky?

Mmmm, perhaps the thread could be renamed to broaden it beyond collecting to include well, non-collection enjoyment of whiskey, and we could learn from the aficionados about your varied interests in the subject.

Myself, I try to stick to Japanese whiskey. We had a family drinking session where we consumed both Yamazaki (standard single malt) and Hibiki (the "perfume bottle") among just 4 of us. I woke up early the next day to play tennis, no ill effects. My brother woke up early to take an ace an exam.

If you want a good app for whisky ratings, I used Distiller. Anything above 90 rating is a good bottle. There are good ones below 2.5k available locally.
