where in the world... (great places you\'ve visited/would like to visit)

it must be the infernal heat, or the election-caused depression, but my mind is wandering off... to great, memorable, and exotic places i've been to, or would like to visit if i win the lotto. let's daydream, folks: where in the world have you been, and where would you like to go (or go again)? let me begin (limiting myself to 5 per category):

    where i've been:

    1. a castle in scotland
    2. a villa in northern italy
    3. a $5-a-day hotel in hanoi
    4. the forbidden palace in beijing
    5. beneath a rainbow in south africa

    where i'd like to go:

    1. macworld 2005 in san francisco
    2. rio de janeiro at carnaval (or, heck, just ipanema beach)
    3. norway (have no idea why; must be the heat!)
    4. the smithsonian in washington, dc (again, and again!)
    5. paris (again, and again!)

I've seen the Terra-cotta warriors in Xian, China.
    Been to Shanghai too.

Had fun in the beach in Phuket.
    Bangkok's just like Manila.

It's cool in Hongkong these days.
    Singapore's so humid though.

I went to Cheetah in Las Vegas. ;)
Oh boy, Venetian Hotel is the best!

I saw all of Seattle from the Space Needle.
    Such a boring place.

    Visited my relatives in Sacramento.
We had fun with the ice in Yosemite.
    We went around SF too.

I'd love to see Paris, Madrid and Athens.

Been to cold and dreary London. Wanted to have a photo taken at Abbey Road (but was told it was dangerous). Admired the beautiful castles of Scotland and the quaint cottages and street shops in Norwich. Saw Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam. Went to NY, LA, IL, VA, WI, NJ. Loved NY the most (bagels, cheesecake, franks, pizza, Central Park, MoMA, SoHo!).

Would like to go to (uhm, father are you there?)

    France
    Italy
    Spain
    Greece
    Egypt
    Anywhere in the Carribean

    • California (lived there for a year)
    • Disney World, Epcot Center (Orlando, Florida)
    • Sun Valley, Idaho
    • Rice Terraces Banaue
    • New York
    • Paris
    • Rome, Milan, Florence
    • London
    • Estoril, Lisboa
    • Shanghai (just last week)
    • Amsterdam and The Hague

Where I would love to go to (cities, countries, events, sites):
    • Madrid
    • Athens
    • Morocco
    • Cuba
    • Rio de Janeiro (during Carnaval)
    • Siargao
    • New Zealand
    • Palawan
    • MWSF 2005
    • any former eastern block country
    • Russia
    • The Grand Prix of Shanghai

...but I've never been to me...

Since most of you have been to France, has anyone been to the Asterix amusement park? Just curious, I've never seen it (and I'm an Asterix fan) ;)

@demi: nope & I wish I had. :( I also heard Jim Morrison's (the Door's late vocalist) grave can be found in Paris.
