Hi guys! First post ko dito sa section na 'to. Mukhang bumalik na naman ang gamer's urge sa katawan ko. I was a hardcore gamer back in high school and college. I played Diablo 1 and 2. I also played Counterstrike beginning with the beta 5 version. Sobrang addict ako dati. When I went to med school medyo seryoso na until now na intern na ko. Gusto ko ulit maglaro. If I were to buy a game for my MBP 2.16 GHz 2 GB RAM, ano tingin niyo pinaka-ok at pinakasulit laruin? Civilization, Call of Duty 2 or Quake 4? Hoping for replies. thank you very much.
in terms of replay value, civ is best among the 3. if you're into ww2 fps, go for Cod2. for hardcore fragging, quake 4. of course there are other titles out there (not so much though, unless you're running bootcamp). hth.
Internet slowdown aside, the free downloadable World of Warcraft should give you your post-Diablo fix. Just be prepared for those monthly dues.
kabit ko 'to dito instead of starting a new thread what game would work fine on an ibook g3? and is there such a thing as 2nd hand or used games? san kaya makakabili? i'm not a big gamer but somebody gave me a copy of civ iii and i found that now and then there's nothing like a good game to sort out the gray cells hehe. thanks!
i was at data blitz (robinson manila) last saturday, not much games for mac though.... i also saw starcraft at one shop but i read that it needs classic to run starcraft? does this mean i still need to install classic on my mac? right now i have first to fight on my mac... ganda! ill try call of duty, me demo ba un like WOW?
Hi fuge, The "newer" release of starcraft already has an OS X installer so you don't need to install classic. If you buy the starcraft battlechest, you should install broodwar first then it will prompt you for the starcraft disk. This way, you'll only need 1 directory to install to. You should also go to battle.net for the latest patches. Blizzard should really release a starcraft update for higher resolution sprites. The game doesn't look good full screen on LCDs.
mac version po. got it from a friend. i think its an old mac starcraft version, kasi nadun siya sa discounted tray eh, hehehehe.. P675 lang. balikan ko, then download the patches... tama po ba?
Before purchasing, make sure it can be installed in OS X. All Blizzard games come in hybrid CDs that have Mac and Windows versions of those games. But sometimes, there are old installers that are PC only. I bought the Diablo 2 battle chest and the first disk was PC only. The rest of the disks were hybrids. Datablitz helped me out with this problem by replacing the disk. But it took a few weeks.
you can actually download the OSX installer from Blizzard entertainment's website. This should address all issues with the CDs that have the old installers.
Thanks for the heads-up, polar_bear! Frakkin' Awesome l@pogo: Thanks for the tip regarding the StarCraft OSX installer. Too bad I sold my StarCraft Battlechest already... Tsk! lamski: Would you know where I can locally find this "newer" release of StarCraft? Thanks!
try data blitz, i've seen starcraft titles in their greenbelt branch. check their website (just google it). hth.
the starcraft battle chests being sold in datablitz stores are the "new" ones - they're in the sleek, big, slim boxes similar in size to the diablo 2 battle chest.
So those are the "newer" ones already? I've seen them a couple of times already and I just ignored them, hahaha... I thought they're the same "older" ones that are just in a different box.. Silly me! Thanks lamski!
The SC battle chest I bought in the late '90s was sadly PC-only. When I bought my first mac in 2005, I couldn't install SC on my mac. So I went to datablitz to get a new battle chest but they had a shortage of stock at the time. Fortunately, I found a copy at National Bookstore hehehe. If you love RTS, you should also consider Homeworld 1 & 2 for the mac. The gameplay, graphics, and story can still hold their own.
