freeware or donorware = libreng gamitin na walang bayad, trialware, shareware and demoware = libre pero di nagtatagal o kaya't limitado ang features, open source = refers to multi-platform software na puwedeng gamitin sa iba't ibang computer. Kadalasan, libreng gamitin din ito.

Open source doesn't imply multi-platform. There're a ton of open-source software that only work on Windows, or only work on Linux, for example.

open source simply means open software.. (source is open and anybody can edit and distribute it) tsaka free ...

open source software - the software code of the program must comply with the definition of open source such as availability of the source code, redistribution and technological neutrality. the code can be legally modified. it is the code itself that is open, as opposed to say, proprietary apple code which is closed, i.e., not made available to the public and can't be legally modified. this may or may not be free, depending on the developer.

shareware, trial software and demos - the program is not free but for a limited time, the user can preview and try out the program before having to purchase it. the preview or trial may or may not be feature complete and often comes with watermarking that is removed upon purchase.

donation ware - software is free to use but donations are encouraged.

freeware - res ipsa loquitur: free.

    cheers!

Happy hunting......

ooooppps be careful on the word free, free on open source terminology does not translate to zero cost. simply means the code is open to anyone, anywhere
