best travel bag for my portable

hi was wondering what would be the best carrying case/ travel bag for my powerbook. ill be going to the states next month and ill be bringing most of my computer stuff.

i was thinking of getting a backpack so that my external enclsure my wacom and my hds would fit. Although i dont want the bag to be too big so that ill still be able to handcarry it.

    any suggestions guy? :)

I've use the Samsonite rafter series bag (the old and bigger model) for my travel photography shoots. It can fit my 12" Albook, several clothes at the bottom part and a DSLR 1D on top. =) Side pockets are use for chargers at other laptop gears.

Looking for one also but all the backpacks I've checked out including Samsonite are really kulang in the bottom corners of the padded portion for the laptop. :(

Check it out yourself, this means that if you are luggin' your back pack around, the vulnerable spots are the two bottom corners of your laptop.

i used a crumpler crippy duck -- it was my hand carry :) it was really convenient coz it's made like a messenger bag with a separate compartment for the 'book. then there's space pa for other stuff like my isight, ipod, mouse etc.. plus my wallet, some dvds etc.. :) oh and the flap of the bag has a zipper compartment that's really big :) just my experience though :D

I'm using the Xylem 800 backpack from Samsonite. It has a padded case inside to protect your powerbook from impact and separate it from the rest of the stuff inside to prevent scratches. There are "reinforcements" made of really hard plastic that go around the edges of the bag to make it more shock-proof. It's expandable, comes with its own combination lock and a FREE 3-year travel insurance from AIG (just in case something happens with the bag and its contents while you're in transit) which you activate by going to the Samsonite website. Oh and did I say it's really stylish too?:)

If you want to look at a wide variety of Crumpler bags and STM bags and you are in the vicinity of Makati today or tomorrow, drop by the @Games booth at the Mobile Pilipinas currently on-going at Greenbelt 1. I was there earlier and the bags literally made me drool.

BTW, they also have the STM iPod case and it looks like a future purchase for me.

    MacTruck

A Mac-using relative abroad sounded me off on the MacTruck, his current carrying case. Would like to follow his lead but the price is a bit out of my reach.

I have a huuuuuge Samsonite laptop bag. It honestly defeats the purpose of the iBook being small & thin :(
Unfortunately, until I get enough money to buy another one (a laptop backpack, perhaps?), I'm stuck with this.

12" incase laptop sleeve that goes into either:

a timbuk2 el ocho messenger (for fair weather days and days i don't have to lug around that much stuff),
north face base camp messenger (weather proof with its tarpaulin shell and a zippered flap. i use this when it's really pouring outside, when i get around on my scooter or on my gym days. it takes my 12" pb, a pouch of cables and chargers, several documents and magazines, my gym gear AND gym shoes in a shoe bag. talk about space! makes it one heavy mother though.),
or nike sling bag (also made of tarp but a slimmer profile. fits the pb and a couple of magazines).

what i really want is the new billboard messenger bag from timbuk2: http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/catalog/categories.t2?categoryId=29 coolness!

I use a Marware sleeve for my PB12 and slip inside a knapsack.

    That MacTruck looks wicked!
