Weird creaking sound when i open/close my MB (HELP!)

here is the link to the video i made on youtube. (i'm not sure if it's okay to embed it here)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaEbPTgLdbw

btw the vid is supposed to be working okay but when i clicked on the link there was an error message. please let me know if you've encountered the same message. (i uploaded the video thru an erratic SBW connection eh hehe)

i'm worried about the strange sound my laptop makes when i open/close it. parang kung sa pinto, kulang sa langis ang tunog. has anybody else experienced this? is there something wrong with the hinge, and should i take it to the service center?

your insights/suggestions are highly appreciated. thank you! :)

That doesn't sound right to me, enuhski. Might as well have your suking service center take a look at it. :)

Just bring it to an authorized service center so they can check. If you're still under warranty, then both the labor and parts should be free.

My MB has the same sound and "feeling" (of your kulang sa langis analogy), although I think mine isn't as bad as yours. There isn't too much resistance, it's just annoying but I always thought it was sorta normal and due to the design.

Is it really supposed to move smoothly, zero resistance, zero creaking?

@ stevezone and @ nwinter - thanks! my macbook is still under warranty. nanghihinayang lang ako sa time that i'll be without a laptop in case i need to leave it with the service center. i also have a popped fn key that i haven't replaced kasi i use my laptop a LOT. :(

@ 13th_angel: if i do it more slowly there are less creaks. :/ i'll try next time i'm in an apple store just to see if the MBPs creak, too. i know the unibody is supposed to be sturdy but i'm concerned na baka the creaking might cause cracks on the hinge. there's another philmugger who posted pics of hairline cracks on his macbook, baka kasi ito pala yung cause...

I'm on an alum. MBP, and it doesn't make a sound. And opening/closing it is smooth. So, go take your MB to a service center before things get worse (though I hope it doesn't). Good luck!

My MB also has that kind of sound.

After a while, my LCD went crazy and gone black and white.

Had it serviced at Power Mac Trinoma and found out that the LCD is broken and there's the clicking sound.

After servicing, the clicking sound is gone and they changed my LCD.

My only problem now is that the magnet that holds the lid intact is not holding the lid properly. It opens easily.

I guess you better have it serviced asap.

Have it serviced pare. Is the problem still there? Is the unit still under warranty? The whole LCD assembly will have to be replaced since it comes as one part (hinge and LCD and top alu cover).

Uh-oh. On top of the creaky sound, I have this problem too. How long did you have to leave your unit with them?

Hi! The unit is still under warranty. I just had the top case replaced, too, just this week. How long does it take to have this part serviced? I hear it takes a long time, but I don't know how long exactly...

Hang on, you had the top case replaced? Isn't this a unibody MacBook? Top case is usually the part term for the keyboard/trackpad/palm rest part of a polycarb (plastic) MacBook. But that part for the aluminum MacBook is the unibody since it's just one part which includes the bottom part.

Anyway, what part did they order for you? It shouldn't take long, upon ordering, Apple ships the part next business day to the AASP address so AASP usually gets it 3 days after ordering.

Oh that's how they referred to the replacement kasi. But yeah, the entire thing was replaced except the screen and the bottom part.

Actually I haven't invoked my warranty yet for the LCD case. I'm still thinking about which service center to bring it to. From what I know, the process of replacing the screen is very tedious and difficult to execute. So I'm still looking at different options for the service centers available.

Oo nga eh! That's what I realized din! Methinks I got a lemon-y unit eh kaya daming kelangan palitan :p
