Any notable differences? Took me about an hour to update to OS 3, what a pain

Main difference really would be evident in the Series 3 LTE version. No notable changes on my Series 1 really. Haha just went through the motion of updating.

Had issues as well. Restarted both the Watch and the paired iPhone. Worked after that.

You can see more detailed instructions with this Apple Support article: Update your Apple Watch.

    What’s new in watchOS 4.2:
    • This update contains new features, improvements, and bug fixes
    • Send, request, and receive money from friends and family with Apple Pay Cash in Messages or by asking Siri (US only)
    • Adds support for HomeKit sprinklers and faucets in Home
    • Adds support for a new workout type for third-party apps to track distance, average speed, number of runs, and elevation descended for downhill snow sports with Apple Watch Series 3
    • Resolves an issue where Apple Watch would sometimes restart when asking Siri about the weather
    • Fixes an issue where scrolling was disabled in Heart Rate for some users
    • Resolves an issue that prevented simultaneous timers or alarms from being dismissed independently

I can’t get fb messenger to work on my apple watch series 3. Watch os is the latest, ios messenger is the latest version too.
I’ve scoured the net and have seem a lot of people posting similar problem. I had also tried the many tips found all over the net but to no avail.
The apple watch option doesn’t appear too even though i have installed uninstalled and installed again countless times messenger app both on my phone and watch.
Can anybody maybe suggest something i can do that i might not have seen yet from my search of the net.
    Thanks

I didn't have to install Messenger to be able to reply to messages on my watch -- in case this is about the same thing that you wanted to do.

    FYI.
A new AW Face Pride will be activated next week after the WWDC.
But you can have it as early as now.
Just change the date of your phone to June 6 then check the watch app.
Add the new watch face then turn back the date to automatic.
Just make sure you are on the latest version of iOS (11.4) & watchOS (4.3.1).

It’s always nice to know that Apple is a major supporter of the LGBT community. I’m guessing big thanks to Tim Cook.

    Any “noticeable” improvements or otherwise?
