It’s 2020 already, we are way behind from other countries but it is good news that mobile network operators in the Philippines are now starting to implement VoLTE & VoWifi (Wifi Calling). UPDATES AS OF MAY 22 2020 SMART VoLTE - Implemented on major android and most of ios devices but only in selected areas in NCR as of the moment SMART VoWifi (Wifi Calling) - Implemented on major android and most ios devices on a nationwide coverage GLOBE VoLTE - Implemented on major android devices and only available in selected areas in NCR GLOBE VoWifi (Wifi Calling) - Implemented on major android devices and available nationwide DITO VoLTE - They said they will be offering VoLTE upon launch but the question is what phones are they going to support and what will happen to those phones that they will support since Dito will be skipping 2G DITO VoWifi (Wifi Calling) - Dito never mentioned that they would be supporting VoWifi or Wifi Calling but since they would be supporting VoLTE it’s not gonna be that hard to support VoWifi or Wifi Calling most specially if it wants to widen its coverage areas fast and using VoWifi or Wifi Calling technology is of great help
I hope globe would implement VoLTE and VoWifi (Wifi Calling) on ios devices soon. I also hope new ios updates would bring support to it even though VoLTE is available in NCR VoWifi or Wifi Calling can be available NATIONWIDE since it is not cellsite dependent.
