How do I do that? Whenever I try there's a beat on the background eh. Hahaha.

Hi Jannuh! Garageband is a pretty good voice recorder. Yeah the beat (the sound of the metronome) that you hear gets recorded as well. Here's what you have to do. Turn off the volume of your Mac while recording your voice. But don't forget to turn it up again when playing back your recording, ok? ;-) That should work. ;-)

I use quicktime and your macbooks built in mike. If you want to try something fancier, try the software mentioned above.

Garageband Re: Voice recording on a macbook?

When you open Garageband, select a new project template "Podcast" - a good starting point for a voice recording.

it should already have channels set up for typical elements
    - female voice
    - male voice
    - instruments/loops

you can mute the male voice and instrument tracks by clicking on the speaker icon

then click the record icon on the female voice

    start speaking.

there's a more detailed tutorial on the Garageband help.

    enjoy!

I personally like Audio Hijack Pro. Aside from recording your voice, you can also record from various apps like QuickTime, Firefox, DVD Player, etc. :)

One way is to export your garageband file to iTunes and let iTunes convert it to mp3. :)
