    Virtue - virtual desktops

I just stumbled upon this very useful app. It's called Virtue and it gives you the ability to configure virtual desktop spaces for various purposes, say, browsing, email, work, chatting, etc.

The keystroke transitions between desktops are fully configurable, as well as the displayed apps for every virtual desktop.

It also saves you from the hassle of switching between apps by minimizing to dock or hitting Cmd+Tab every time - just switch desktops. Fantastic. And free.

    Download it here:

i tried it and it seems useful enough but i still havent seen how its any different from cmd+tab'ing. how do you guys use it differently? like for grouping certain app's together? all design on one desktop, all mail-related in another, etc...?

Just open an app in any given desktop (say, Browsing) then move to another desktop. When you go back to 'Browsing,' the app you opened will still be displayed.

    or

Menu bar icon -> Inspection -> Applications

in your experience is this actually faster than cmd+tab? seems the same to me. it makes sense however when i do put all internet apps on one desktop, then work on another, then say messenger and email on another. one app per desktop gains no advantage for me though.

Matter of preference really, bro. Cmd+tab never did it for me even under Windoze. At least with Virtue, I can group similar apps together, like Skype+Adium+Fire+iChat all in one screen. Less clutter.

Thanks for the heads up! I used Desktop Manager before but there were some glitches that I didn't want to live with. So far I haven't experienced any problems with Virtue.

Any Virtue like apps can do this? where you can scroll to the next screen via scroll instead of a switch?
