I have a Samsung 940MG that I wanted to connect to my MBP (Santa Rosa), so I purchased a DVI-D cable to hook up the external monitor to my MBP. When connected the screen of the external monitor only shows a black screen, but from the MBP it does acknowledge that an external monitor is present (preference screen for external monitor is seen).

Though the set-up works perfectly if I use the provided DVI-I to VGA connector and VGA input of the Samsung, but it would be better if I didn't have to bother carrying the DVI-I to VGA connector and use all digital connection via DVI cable.

Does anyone have a possible fix?
