^yes, Ford's entry to (what I personally call) "The Chinese SUV wars"

Subcompact SUVs from China with 1.5L engine (to meet local tax requirements)
Biggest plus going for the Territory is the CVT and Ford's network of dealers/service centers.

Hmm if it is fact PHP 4.5M,expect the local pricing to hover around PHP 8M. From what we learned on the pricing of the Jaguar iPace EV, whatever tax perks the Govt gives to EVs doesn’t really equate to a lower price.

PHP 1.3 M. Blindspot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, electronic seat adjustment, active parking assist ( perpendicular/ parallel ), 360 camera, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, electronic parking brake. Not bad.

I was actually talking to my wife just now...

Do we really need the 3rd row seats  I think a sunroof would be more useful

It's like the Ford version of the Geely Coolray. :)

It's an American Chinese mestizo, the lovechild of Ford and Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd (JMC).

I don't like its pear shape and rotund angles. It's narrow at the top and super wide at the bottom. That smiling grille isn't doing it any favors either. But at its price, it's going to draw a lot buyers from CR-V, RAV4, Tucson, CX-3 or CX-5. I think Ford's got a winner here.

Toyota's Corolla Cross is coming out locally to battle it out with this Territory, but knowing TMP, the Cross is going to be barebones in the entry level and overpriced in the higher end.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cross comes with a tape deck! or a 3.5mm aux input!
IMO, Toyota PH should just go all out and include and ash tray :D

^ Also don't forget other state-of-the-art features of the Toyota Cross, such as AC, power steering and wait for it... power windows! :p Gasp!

I wish TMP had brought in the CH-R. We really missed out on that one.

Incidentally, Mitsubishi also has a compact crossover called the Eclipse Cross. It's going to get awkward if or when they introduce it locally.

A couple of things missing on the Territory, no power tailgate, you also wont be able to drop the rear seats to accomodate additional storage on the trunk if you're at the back. It's also not using Ford's proprietary Sync 3 Infotainment system.

I wish for that too but it is not feasible as the CH-R are produced in Brazil (same driving orientation as PH). The ones produces in Asia are for Singapore, Australia and the likes (which have different driving orientation).

Only chance we get the CH-R is if it came from China with a 1.5L engine...

If you’re not iffy in buying chinese cars, the Geely Coolray is a good option. 360 camera, active parking assist, ambient led lights, sunroof, electronic parking break, cruise control, electronic seat adjustment.

Say what you will about Toyota's blah offerings and their less-than-state-of the-art features, in the Philippines they're still the smart and practical choice. Especially if you're a "non-car person." Parts availability, and service reliability keep their resale value high and ownership generally pain-free. This says more about the other brands' failure to step up than it does about Toyota's performance per se, IMO.

The Cross looks like something I'd buy eventually when the time comes to let go of our Vitara.
