Hi! This is the first time that I've ever posted here but I've been a Mac user for over 5 years now. I upgraded from an iBook to a Macbook 6 months ago and I'm very happy except for this.

Mail and Toast Titanium 8 keep unexpectedly closing on me while I'm using them. With Mail it's not so bad it happens every so often. But with toaster I can't even use it anymore. As soon as it opens it unexpectedly closes. I've already done the whole report to Apple bit and I've re installed the program as well. But it's still messed up.

    Can anyone help me?

    thanks

it may help if you would post your current hardware setup, mac os version and toast version. there's basically so much that we could do, but everything starts out at making sure that your OS is in good order and it would take system utilities like Disk Utility, Cocktail, Onyx, etc to do so. downloading and reinstalling the OS X combo updater has been known to fix many problems too.

i'm not too keen on any fixes to mail other than reinstalling the OS X combo updater, but you can use the following with toast:

delete any preference (.plist) files associated with toast and try reinstalling and updating toast to the latest version. if that still does not work, try creating another user account on your mac and try installing toast on that account.

if that still doesn't work, run Hardware Profiler just to check if your superdrive is detected. if so, boot from the setup disc that came with your mac and run a hardware test just to make sure that your hardware is in good order.

perform a search here on philmug for more detailed information or any questions you may have on every step that i mentioned here.

    good luck!

    Hi Booblanco,

    Here's my hardware set up.

    MacBook 2,1:

2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    1 GB RAM

    OS:

    Mac OS X 10.4.11

    Applications:

    Toast Titanium 8
    Mail 2.1.8

I've done a diagnostic on hardware and operating system and it's all running properly. I can even burn to dvd using the finder window. It just takes so much longer than when toast used to work.

I'm current with all the software updates.

I've also reinstalled Toast and did remove all the .plist files first. No change yet toast is still messed up.

To be on the safe side I think I better bring the mac to iStudio. Maybe they can do something about it.

:( Drat I was really hoping not to have to. If they have to keep my computer to check it out I'll feel like I've lost an arm.

    Thanks

before you take it to the shop, just reinstall the 10.4.11 combo updater and see if it fixes your problem. if not, i suppose there's only so much we can do eh? iStudio time.
