As a Tiger user, I'm sure you are well aware of the Calendar widget. It's one of the bundled Dashboard widgets which is one of the four that's set up by default.

I'm also sure that you are well aware that you can scroll through future or past months by clicking on the arrows to the right and left of the month and year.

I'm also sure that you know that by clicking on the month and year will get you back to the current month.

But I bet most of you don't know that you could use the keyboard to quickly and easily control the Calendar widget.

    Check it out.

First, the calendar widget has to be in front. Just click on it once, but not on the left part as that will hide the month viewer.

arrow left = view previous months
arrow right = view future months
arrow up = view previous years
arrow down = view future years
Home = return to current month

(home for us laptop users is done by pressing on the fn and left arrow keys)

Now it's so easy to find out what day of the week you were born.

    Enjoy!
