Quarantine/lock down is about to end (I hope)...

Anything you've learned about yourself and family during the quarantine/lock down?

It is best not to see the thoughts running inside the heads of other people if you want to keep respecting them and be good terms.

So deactivate Facebook, hide Viber groups and use https://news.google.com/ to cross reference very inflamatory and unusual news items.

I've also learned that when at home you can still exercise.

Eating fast food, processed food and junkfood will mess up your blood chemistry and body fat %

    1. A can of sardines a day is like sex with a toy. It’s physically impossible to be thrilled about it.

    2. Despite constant practice, one won’t still be able to scratch the center of one’s back with their hands.

    3. A favorite shirt can last 5 days without washing.

    4. Celibacy is a myth when you have a premium pass to Pornhub.

    5. Starting the car everyday just to warm it up is like standing up after your nap. Sometimes it’s better that you don’t want to.

    6. A fart can be heard by everyone at home even with the door closed because everyone hears what is going on.

After 2 days, maybe 2-3 hours per day, learned how to solve the Rubiks cube, and can now do it in 1 minute 30 seconds :ROFLMAO:

    6. Finally, I discovered my wife’s secret stash of Snickers bars and Toblerone. Took me 2 years, 4 months, 12 days, 8 hours since I found out by own secret stash was discovered and some delightful chocolates were missing.

    7. Won my 18th straight match in Scrabble Go since March the 17th. Gunning for the regional record of 25 straight held by guy from Singapore. Khau pe!

I've had new-found appreciation for Broadway musicals.... specifically, Lin-Manuel Miranda's "Hamilton".

It all started after watching three of Adam Savage's "Tested" episodes about the technical aspects behind the said musical (Sound mixing, props, and miking actors/performers). That led me to watch excerpts of the actual musical on YouTube and eventually, listened to the whole Hamilton Original Cast recording on Spotify. Wow!

I've went through the whole album maybe 5 times already since the beginning of the ECQ and I'm still learning new bits every time.

Before this, I've only known about Lin-Manuel Miranda because of his work on "Moana". I never realized he was THIS talented.

I've also never really appreciated rap and R&B songs, ever. However, this musical blew my mind and came to appreciate these types of music (at least, within this context), especially with 18th century American history about the Founding Fathers who framed the US Constitution, thrown in for good measure.

Right now, I'm reading the book this musical was based on: "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow.

It's said that they are working on a live-on-stage recording of the original Broadway cast to be available in 2021. Can't wait.

    8. Learned that malunggay at itlog torta is healthier than ampalayang torta, whichever is available anyway. Scrambled eggs are so lame nowadays.

    Mm....chef tatung’s Simpol:

    https://www.youtube.com/user/Cheftatung

    Easy.

Followed his and it tasted good. Instead of deepfrying on a pan, I used my electric deep fryer set at 165 C and deepfried for exactly 10 minutes for that crispy skin (oh yes it is crispy!) but still moist inside the chicken leg quarter para uniform cooking siya ( when you slice, wala ng blood sa bone). Siyempre, Jufran banana ketchup, lea and perrins and hot sauce to complete the dish. The recipe works. I did not put calamansi, just thai patis (overnight). Save the oil for another day. Some of the chicken fat will render and infuse the oil. Mas lalong malasa. Important not to break the chicken skin, from prep to deep frying. Also important to slightly oversalt the poaching liquid.

Thing's You've Learned (while at home)...

nothing...absolutely nothing of importance or relevance.

Spending time scanning Youtube for any content: news, sports, cars, music, cooking/baking, travel, etc without really absorbing much of anything of value.

Going over my watchlist of streaming channels and hardly investing my time and attention on any content that distracts from the mundane. Just focusing on factors based purely on entertainment value.

Ganito pala buhay ng tamad.... I don't think I want to get used to this, but the struggle is real.

Keeping it real... love it! Surviving this unscathed after all is said and done is an achievement in itself.
