Charging my MI 5000mah Powerbank for the second time... 8hrs now and still not fully charged (Start charging it at 25%). Using iPad 10w power adapter and samsung micro-usb cable. Should i send it for replacement? According to MI website, charging time is around 3.5 hrs with 5V/2A plug and standard cable. Already did the reset thing before charging it.

It is ok to use powerbanks even not MFI? I'm using a MI 16,800mah PB and I noticed that the battery of my IP5 became blotted/swollen.

hi, what does MFI means? Also, there is no 16,800 mAh mi power bank. Been using mi power bank for more than a year and no problems encountered regarding my iphone battery.

same experience. bought a Ye!! powerbank for my iPhone 5s because it looked real slick, had a built-in lightning connector, and was thin and around the same size as my iPhone. was able to use it for only about 4 months, then it wouldn't charge anymore. disgusting.

I saw some powercores (10000, 10040, and 20100) in Anker's stall in Glorietta. The 10400 is priced around Php 1,600+.

The stall is right in front of the connecting escalator to SM Makati, if I'm not mistaken.

I was surprised the first time i saw the official stall. They don't carry (yet) the lipstick sized powerbanks.

The only powerbanks with MFI are the ones that have builtin lightning connectors, since they have to pay the license with Apple. I have this on my mpow powerbank. Regular powerbanks though (without builtin lightning connectors ) dont have the MFI since they dont have to pay the license. They are just basically power supplies like your charger that you plug to the wall.

So in a nutshell yeah you dont need MFI for regular powerbanks. Personally i'd stick with branded ones like Anker, Mpow, Asus etc to make sure you get high quality from your powerbank. I actually also have a Mi powerbank i got from an authorized seller and working great its been a year now.
