    thanks for the response.
oh i forgot to mention i just leave my imac turned on 24/7 :) would the ssd still be classified as a need? is there any other advantage in having a ssd/fusion drive given this scenario? BTW i use external drives for all my data.. the internal hd space is consume only by the OS and apps

yes.. for me.. i just sleep it when i'll be away for a few hours.. i bought the 3tb fusion drive for just a bigger storage. i mainly need the ssd for faster writing. the extra 3tb is just a bonus.. i have a NAS with 11tb of storage space.

on side note. it's my 2000th post.. woohooo.

^if you can only choose one upgrade for the imac.. and main criteria is to extend its usefullness (to at least 7 years) what would you pick: upgrade of processor, upgrade of RAM or fusion drive?

you can upgrade the ram by yourself. either it will be processor or fusion drive. or ssd only..

Customs hold my iMac according to Lorriane. Why would they do that? Anyway i really don't have enough info about customs, why would they hold a package that contains an apple product that an authorized apple reseller ordered?

It could be a number of things -- the paper work isn't complete like sales invoice -- proof of payment, tax related issues, maybe the shipper got some of the details wrong and doesn't match what the product really is or could be because the consignee doesn't have the right papers. Maybe you could ask Lorraine about the details.

Pulled the trigger and bought my self an entry level 21" the other day from BTB rockwell and I'm pretty satisfied with it's performance. It's not blazing fast but it suits my needs (surfing, emails, movies) an SSD wouldve been nice after getting used to working with iPads and MBA's and MBP's. But the extra screen real estate is a welcome change from working off a 15" MBP for the past couple of years.

It's been a while since people got their hands on the new thinner, iMac. Is the dust-issue on the screen from the previous generations already resolved?

Perfectly happy with the unit I bought last week. After using a MBA as my primary work computer for quite some time now, it's such a pleasure to have the iMac's large bright screen.
