Looks like there's a major Front Row bug. I logged in at Apple Discussions and noticed a widely viewed thread under the Front Row forum that has to do with an issue I'm experiencing. When going into the movie trailer function in Front Row, I immediately get a message that says The movie trailer server is not responding (see attached). The strange thing is that Front Row displays this message almost instantly, as if it isn't even trying to connect to the server. The other strange behavior is that it's inconsistent. Just tonight, after seeing that message, I shut down, zapped my computer's PRAM, restarted and immediately went into the movie trailer function of Front Row. It worked! I watched a few trailers, some of which had the same 'trailer not responding' message in the bottom, but that would quickly disappear and the trailers would play anyway. I quit Front Row, did nothing in between, relaunched Front Row and, as I feared, the movie trailer server 'is not responding'. It's frustrating because I feel that the movie trailer function is Front Row's best feature. Looks like Apple is aware of it but can't figure out why it's happening.
Interesting to note that it works on my dad's mac book pro but not on my mac mini on the same router.
have you guys tried this yet?... works great with the movie trailers. http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=11297&highlight=mediacentral
Is there a way to run it in a window? or apple+tab it?, I want the ability to switch to other applications when the need arise. I have to close the app whenever i want to use the email or IM someone.
i'm having trouble viewing movie trailers in Front Row. it keeps on saying "loading trailer" but nothing happens. is this a different problem from the one presented in this thread? i checked on the settings and haven't changed anything on quicktime. i don't have a slow dsl connection since if i watch the same trailer from the apple quicktime site, everything loads up fine. any ideas?
