Wow, congrats Surgfish you got your iMac early! This might be a good sign that Apple is picking up its pace to meet demand. @Yoh, took you three months to get your iMac? Yikes, thats seems way too long, all the BTO Macs I've ordered in the past consistently came within a month. What were the circumstances that caused such a late delivery?

Now that I've seen a 5k iMac and played with it, its biggest advantage became immediately clear (no pun intended): Not just better resolutions for photos and videos, but much better text clarity. Since text is what most of us view most of the time, it's a big boost. It would do an awesome job on a huge Excel sheet.

^I couldn't agree more on that! - the text/font is really awesome... it made my 27-inch iMac's fonts look blurred. lol

Sorry for the OT, but which software do you use to edit 4K Videos?

I believe iMovie's best output is only FHD.

Congrats on your new 5K iMac. If your internet provider is providing a dedicated port most likely there is no buffering. You can try watching Bluray movies and I am sure it will be awesome. :)

Adobe Premiere would do the trick

Final Cut Pro X supports 4k. I use it to edit my GH4's 4k footage.

This is what happens when you compare the regular iMac to a Retina iMac...

@laukong, Got it today. Made reservations actually last Dec. 22, unit was readily available at BTB Vira Mall but requested a pick up in BTB One Rockwell for easier pick up. :)

I'm stoked! Just got my Retina iMac from Beyond the Box Vmall yesterday. I'm now setting it up and loading updates and apps :)

My first impression? I've owned a 27 inch Mac before and noticed that after using it for 3 hours my eyes tend to get very tired when I read a lot of text. Thats probably one of the reason I sold it and bought a 17 inch Macbook Pro instead. The retina iMac's screen is definitely more pleasant screen to look at and its been over three hours now...so far no strain. Perhaps I'm just excited and its all placebo but we'll see as I brake this one in.

Congrats nice setup. Too bad notebooks are a necessity for me or I would have treated myself to a Retina iMac. What keyboard is that bro? Is that a PC keyboard? Looks huge.

Thanks Seven. I'm very happy with my purchase. :) The big black keyboard is a Das Mac keyboard. A very nice (and noisy) Mechanical keyboard. If you type a lot its a big step up over the default Apple keyboards in feel and quality.

I upgraded my wife's iMac to the Retina 5k version last week. After a few minutes of playing with it, I was NOT happy with it at all. It caused me to want to upgrade my MBP to the Retina version as well!

Lugaw muna for lunch and dinner for me para maka-ipon!
