Was also thinking of Kowloon Shang. Main concern was it is nearer to PolyU and the long walk also of east TST. Other hotel that we are considering was The Langham at Peking road. Also The Royal Pacific hotel. Decent room but of course you can’t compare it to Marriott and Marco Polo. Right know it is only 3k plus.
Mm...east tst to tst walk is not that bad, underground walkway is serviced by at least 3 long walkalators. Takes time though and kapag madami kang bitbit, it becomes a big hassle. For hk newbies, shang kowloon, royal, holiday inn golden mile, hotel icon, and hyatt regency are serviced by the mrt airport express free shuttle bus to/from kowloon station. So there’s door to door service convenience to/from hkia, a huge plus kapag sandamakmak na maleta ang kay mrs.
Is this yesterday? Better to go there really on a weekday. We walked past by some government offices in Admiralty before going to Causeway. Just like a normal day but looking around, you can see the painted walls/glasses and traffic signs that were vandalized.
hmmm i have backread 5 pages but no one seems to have posted about the status of watch prices there. Anyone know if rolex or patek have price drops in HK .... and which shops please.
Mm..my fave Japanese resto in HK is now in The Podium Manda: https://www.facebook.com/senryoPH/?__tn__=kC-R&eid=ARD5kUHvBr2CvjGMvVKzTMyc0qgHRHsXcyhEtOrmDPlAGSX6vBj6gE7kiBPbJDxLShBDAcKyKLjk8EfB&hc_ref=ARSrgugTjAHvyd-8ov2JIY4xeq4_FbxHNVMPz_x2rnOLEiPga-HHqvCdhwBwz3q1SUo&__xts__[0]=68.ARDL0P-jI0Cg66fz9u-Jpaxsg9oiH3jnN8INHwyLJclJD1F770WAw_t7zfYFxlP5HQib2LK80lK6N3bNzqaEk0sznsuS6yqie_2PKmq6rLmI7fdwGQEkRWlZmaxGSvLjxy7_LykDALLHduDLbr6kyFW-KvvcMEKBFQ-1p_bzRh0N1puBLidtJsjhqQRT9lkdIOfC7M0TTO2xQMQxKUGe1WMgyE14DFGMHNzcsF2iAP_va_flIAuRHSqRH2VmSPfOipiiUFCTfwFihTSO2IZryEpToHwtovf62HqmUmBxqsh-BElMioKxkyc0rXfVnLn1tpS1QFnSiqbVNGXUOxMgOMCUGQrKMi5lmrFsuoVMCoNyqCuPJg0JyUw3DRRiHu-6RyeYkiD9JTJSLPALxlV8vAHFo-Je5eNU-RI__2A-2quS4f90EksrjSYgy8j3dG60RleacrBm-FmyyVG2jfTb2aR2s4msDzUyTUvp_8HiflrVi5RB5Tuxe1c Sana same jet-fresh quality sushi sa HK stores nila. The closest local is Seryna sa Little Tokyo Makati.
mmm....access Openrice HK app. They always have on-going buffet promo for selected resto. If you have HK-issued credit cards, they also run specials. But this one will always be on my top 3 whenever I m in HK.... https://www.openrice.com/en/hongkong/r-cafe-hyatt-tsim-sha-tsui-international-buffet-r35459
3D-2N HK trip was a blur. Airport was eerily silent despite our arrival and immigration was a breeze. It was like they wanted us to get going and visit. Even the luggage retrieval was fast. Our trip to our hotel was also uneventful though the signs of previous protests and struggles were evident on a number of walls, columns, store fronts and of course, boarded up businesses. Our hotel was gracious enough to upgrade us from de luxe to supreme suites, but it’s actually just two queen-sized beds and a view of the city. Went about with our business during the day, ate in between, slept at night. Staff warned that any sign of mass gatherings can trigger immediate police presence so we had to get the hell out of Dodge. Didn’t use the MTR because some trains were not moving (didn’t ask). Most citizens are in a hurry to go to work, get home, disappear from Big Brother, that’s why most shops and malls are like exclusive tourist hangouts. Our hosts didn’t show up for Friday dinner and we didn’t follow it up. We refrained from talking about any HK issue and just ate and drank and ate and went home. It’s a struggle to see HK, once vibrant, noisy and empowering, feel feeble, silent, wavering. It will be some time before it gets back on its feet.
Looks like business as usual . Hotel Jen is not a ghost town. We are a couple of people even at the club lounge. No queuing in my favorite restaurants. There are sale but I found the Apple shop still has the best deals aside from chocolates at Prizemart. Never saw a rally and only once saw policemen in tactical gear. Used the MTR extensively no issues. I have an octopus card so I used it.
Mmm.....cheaper chocolates and nuts than Prizemart and mas kumpleto: Dai Sang (DS Groceries) Supermarket near North Point. Worth the visit if your hotel is in NP area and you need isang maleta na pasalubong. North Point MTR Exit A3. Katabi ng Gongcha.
I wonder what the situation is like at Disneyland. Will be there December 26. We'll be at Disney Sea Japan on December 28, my daughter's birthday, which is supposedly the busiest day of Tokyo Disney, and it also falls on a Saturday
Thanks for the tip! Baka we’re done na with all the rides half the day, we’re literally staying there til 10PM kasi our flight to Japan is at 1AM
Keep us posted! I have a feeling this week should still be light, and the time between Christmas and New Year might be different, but Im still hopeful. Enjoy!
