Mm..the Erlkonig by Vision Ears.
13 pairs Balanced Armature drivers (4 bass, 4 mids, 4 highs) plus a pair of super tweeters. 4-way adjustable sound signature. Solid silver shell universal with bespoke Effect Audio silver cable.....and a really kickass presentation case. German-quality.
Drool! I’m eyeing the Sony WF-1000xM3 to replace my senn in ear momentum. Unfortunately out of stock on egghead. Any in ears worth considering at sub 15k price point? Will also double for on the go conference calls. Thanks.
Mm...not experienced with wireless but stick with Sony....warm house sound, coloured (in a good way).
Congratulations on your new toy!
How does it compare with your other IEMs (both universal and custom)?
My only concern here is the move towards Android, which has a significant effect on battery life (from 30 hours in the ZX300 to only 20 hours in the ZX507). Also, the significant price increase (now almost Php50k, or the same price as the previous "sub-flagship", the NW-WM1A).
Now, I wonder how much the successor to the NW-WM1A will cost, if and when it's released. Maybe around 70k-80k?
Mm...no comparison yet until burn-in and am still in SG. From memory: comparable in ears in my collection na meron fighting chance are Shure KSE 1500 and Empire Ears Zeus XIV R (ciem 14 BA drivers).
Initial impression of the Erlkonig: Woof woof and woof!
I did change the stock silicone eartips with the Spinfit double flange for a deeper insertion and better sound isolation:
Mm...Christmas in September continues ....just got the Focal Stellia closed-back from Jaben SG. Blind purchase (no demo unit at Jaben) but no problem because I am intimately familiar with the Focal Utopia open-back (owner since 2016).
Mm...while unboxing the Focal Stellia at Jaben SG, a courier entered the store bringing two precious cargo. It turned out to be the first Global batch of the Astell & Kern SP 2000. Headfiers have pre-ordered this hot DAP from as far back as 6 months ago. I did not.
One of the staffer showed it inches from my face. Conversation went like this:
Bosing me dumating ng SP2000 cu (copper). Me mayari na mga to......gusto mo? Sabay kindat ng mata. I blinked 300 times. Shoving an Astell in front of me is like waving a red cape in front of a rampaging bull..........sugod! Lol!
Somewhere here in SG is one mad Singaporean. I got his unit.....first unit, global.
Mm...a REALLY handsome pairing in and out, the SP 2000 from Astell & Kern and Focal Stellia closed-back headphone.....playing Mastering Quality Authenticated (MQA) tracks off Tidal Hifi.....stunning resolution, incredible soundstage, immersive listening experience, destroys my Sony MDR Z1R closed-back..............Star Wars MQA = iMax on my ears....
Hindi nasayang byahe ko sa SG. Ok lang na tiniis ko mag stay sa 2 star hotel.
Mm...burning in the SP2000, Erlkonig and Stellia.....while listening to Tony Bennett on the HE 1/Dave/Blu MK II. Almost finished burning in the 300 hours for the DMP Z1 (capacitor thing).
Mm...check out Egghead Audiohub’s FB. Sale at Galle branch. My choice? The Oppo PM 2 and the Ether Open from Mr Speakers, two of the finest planer magnetic headphones in the world. Have the Oppo PM 1, Zenith-modified Oppo PMx2 and the Ether.
P.D. not connected with Egghead. Just passing the good word.
Review of the Ether from the very hard to please, Tyll Hertsen of Innerfidelity (now retired from the hobby):
Mm.....in ear porn:
the Beyerdynamic collab with Astell & Kern, AKT9iE. Dynamic driver in ears universal. I have the previous gen T8 and I simply adore the very musical sound signature. Clarity is off the charts.
Mm....Lani Misalucha Appreciation Day....on the SP 2000 and Focal Utopia....beautiful vocals!
Powerful dynamics listening session. Clarity and resolution off the charts.
Translation: naririnig ko laway ni lani....
Mm... MJ is alive!
Thanks to a fellow headfi.org member from the UK, the Lavricable silver cable terminated for 2.5 mm balanced adds a new listening dimension to the Focal Stellia and the SP2Kcu.
Makes this set-up a travel-worthy headphone hifi system:
The cable made for even clearer treble. Sweet mids. Tight bass. Damn....this is the first time I ve experienced a closed-back headphone that closely approaches the sound quality of an open back headphone. Very well done, Focal.
Mm...reviving my love affair with woodies:
DMA Audio HK gave me good discount. Happy headphone. Happy life.
