Fitness first is disgusting! almost every branch that i have been, most of the gym is not well maintained! And most gym members are so undisciplined, they just throw their trash everywhere (commonly on the bench or they sometimes leave their trash in the locker!)

By the way, im a member for almost 2 years now and im considering transferring to a better gym. any suggestions?

yes, sadly, fitness first has really 'deteriorated' over the past 2 years. it was way better when wife & i joined 4 years back. major reason i see is FF went for the numbers, which is now choking them. i never go to gym on weekends to avoid irate members who can't even get a locker! (daming tao!)

Been looking for a good gym as well. FF (execept for Platinum) has really gone down the toilet. Too may people and maintenance and care of the equipment is just awful. Defnitely not worth it for the price you're paying.

Planet infinity looks great but too out of the way for me (I live in Taytay and work in The Fort). Any one know of a good gym that's not too far off?

FF Alabang is my home gym, so far happy but not fully satisfied.
Worse branch the ive been to is the Robinsons-Ayala branch - so dirty and you can see rust in the equiptment specially in the cosmic. I dont go there though its walking distance from my ofc.

When I was a FF+ member in RCBC, it was ok. Clean. Lots of celebrities hehehe. I really just went for the pool and the jacuzzi. Eventually I cancelled because I wasn't using my membership enough, and the price was getting too high. But it was a good err break up hehehe. Don't know about the other branches though.

i think the branch that doesnt get too much members is the one at MOA. Still, i heard how full and crowded it has become in some -- owing to the new pet name of the place - FATness First.

in FF ABS-CBN, there is a group of women who hang out in the gym from early morning till closing time. im pretty sure they dont have day jobs. they contribute a lot to FF's overcrowding.
trainers rarely help you for a spot (too busy making chikka to the girls). and the funky smell.....

when my wife got pregnant, her OB advised her to stop going to the gym immediately (high risk kasi). when i gave the certificate to the manager, they told me they have to charge me an extra month before they can hold her monthly payments. i asked why is this so coz the last time she got pregnant the bill was cut off immediately (that's how it is before if it's for medical reasons). the manager just shrugged her shoulders and said well that's the new policy and she's the new manager. right then i terminated BOTH our memberships and transferred to infinity gym.
when i got to infinity i noticed that there were a lot of former FF members there. there's a pool upstairs and a fairly priced massage service.

there was a time when FF was good but when members started pouring in, lumaki na ulo ng management. they dont really care what individual members complain about or how they feel. as long as they keep on signing up new ones.

My bloodwork came back recently, and it wasn't good, so the doctor told me that I needed to eat better and exercise more. Though I have a small, simple, home gym and treadmill, I was thinking of trying out for a short term--like a few months--a gym with professional trainers; you know, just to make sure that I'm doing the right thing. I looked for Fitness First on a search engine and saw so many complaints, rants, and bad experiences being enumerated by so many people. And now there's this thread. I think that's one gym I should scratch off my list, if I do enroll in one. Thanks very much to everyone for the information in this thread.

Try getting membership in hotel gymns like Edsa Shang or Makati Shang. That's if the place is convenient and you are willing to pay a little extra.

I left FF 2 years ago with 3 other gym buddies because of the same reason + the touch each other freely in the shower/sauna.

We are now happy members at Red Corner in Holiday inn hotel Ortigas, next to robinsons mall.

friendly help full staff, clean place, not the newest equipment but perfectly working. Free boxing is you like, swimming pool..... all in all that place has good vibes

there are still some branches worth going to - greenhills, the fort, ortigas, and MOA are not THAT BAD. but i will agree that the quality is going down the drain.

gold's gym in galleria is disgusting and feels cheap - and you don't even get padlocks for the locker; you need to bring your own. the westgate branch is still the best one for me.

eclipse is not much better than fitness, in my opinion. but it's cheap - P1,700/month, and 12 sessions with a PT is P5k a month. yes it's 24/7, but why would you want to be working out at 3 in the morning (unless you're a call center agent)? they're opening a makati cbd branch in june, so it's still part of my consideration set.

i think you will need to manage your own expectations from a gym - if you want a nice, sterile place to make chika, then NONE of the gyms in the country will pass, except for the hotel-based ones. but if all you really need is a convenient place to run, lift weights, then shower afterwards, even the horrible slimmer's world would be good enough.

Eclipse gym is one good looking gym. They have a catchy philosophy, i do hope they live by that philosophy (holistic approach) But i live down south (alabang, las pinas area) And QC is out of the way for me, it'll be one good excuse for me to skip working out.

I dont want to brag, but gym instructors at fitness first are not well trained and not updated to the latest innovations and techniques, i sometimes over hear them teaching their clients about the wrong way of losing fat, or the wrong way of executing exercises.
I can confidently say this because I am well versed in this area (i went to college for this)

Group exercises in fitness first is great, very motivating indeed and great instructors, one caveat, they play their music at full blast! So if you frequent one group exercise (like RPM) to lose weight, you'll damage your hearing. I complained about this to the manager to no avail. I've quit joining group exercises as i see that my hearing is way important than losing fat.

Locker rooms are very, very disgusting! may mga member pa nagtatapon nang ear buds (with ear wax) sa bench and leaves it there! YUCK! what an uneducated fool! and the dressing room in southmall has no LOCK, (what they cant buy a simple latch?)

After my workout, I love going to the shower before, but not now almost all shower cubicle stinks! Pungent aromatic smell! why are these members urinating in the shower area? and if they do why not run it with water before leaving? I know it feels good urinating while having a shower but please flush it with water before drying yourself, how hard is that?

And lastly, I have nothing against gay people, but please fitness first is a gym not a sex den or a pick up place for sex. Some Gay members just stares at you as if hinuhubaran ka. This makes me feel very conscious. In Robinson's summit makati branch, mas rampant duon ang sexual advances that the manager posted on the bulletin board "sexual advances to other members or to the instructors is prohibited (duh!)" and oh, may guard pa nakabantay sa sauna and shower area! hows that for a sex den, ahem gym.

The treadmill, the jack to the TV just doesnt work, theres no sound coming out, and i get electrocuted once in while. (sweaty palms) Can i sue them? ;-)

Ive been thinking about transferring to slimmer's world as they have a branch in festival mall. any feedbacks on this gym? thanks

(sorry for venting here, its just that i dont know where to vent, the manager just doesnt listen)

I've been with Slimmer, Fitness First, and currently now at Gold's Gym Glorietta.

I don't think we'll ever find a perfect gym. I hate taking showers in the gym, I jog to and back from the gym as my warm-up and cool down.

Gold's is okay for me. Fitness First in The Fort was the best among the FF branches that are not platinum. Slimmers? Best one was at Pan Pacific, everywhere else is just a mom-fest, and I'm not talking the MILF kind (pardon my language...)

I just stick to my 30 minute routine, and leave.
