well, i'm not sure if it's what you'd call a "defining trait," but the d-lux 3 is the only digital camera i know of aside from its virtual (and much cheaper) clone, the panasonic lumix LX-2, that takes and shows 16:9 shots natively--meaning, no cheating by cropping the pic top and bottom. i'll post a few shots when i've taken them.
G9 na lang, i think it takes pics that are at least as good luho lang naman ng matanda (ako yon) yung leica. i'm still holding on to my G7, ang dami ko nang mga abubot para dito, e--wide angle, macro, etc.--but now i need three hands!
Sir Butch, give the G7 to your wife nalang and get the G9 for yourself. all the accessories you have for the G7 can be used with the G9 because they have identical mounts
oo nga e, pero tama na ito. she needs a camera for her art-restoration business so pera naman nila yon, i'm happy with my G7 since i don't use RAW anyway (and the leica d-lux 3 does RAW, if ever). by the way, like you mentioned, the best way to upgrade and get away with it is to tell your wife, "honey, i'm giving you this great camera" (ie, your old one--in my case, my old lumix LX-1). she'll love you for it, and you can sneak out and buy a "replacement."
that's a very good and useful tip, Sir Butch! Will keep that in mind when planning to get a new gadget. That new D-Lux you got looks like a classic! Can't wait to see the pics you take with it!
Sir Butch, pareho pala tayo, it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission but my problem is I can't give her my S5is since I use it and the Ixs 850is I gave her was barely used so I sold it nalang
True. In my case, wifey allowed me to purchase a new full frame DSLR provided she inherits my current one.
Thanks. Having a Leica R lens plus adapter for the Canon EOS really does wonders to your images. Plus you expand the versatility of your camera by not only accommodating L lenses but also Leica's classic R lenses. Based on the serial number on my lens, the production date was sometime in the '70s.
true true. Malapit na ko makakuha ng g9. It's just that these leica cams really have a heritage and 'classic' effect. nakaka-inspire hehe.
i got all my "little guys" together for a "family picture" this morning: there's more on my flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10966462@N02/sets/72157603404693601/ and now to start saving up for that m8.... (biro lang!).
A Leica Noctilux-M f1 now is worth 16,000.00-20,000.00 Euro!!! OMG http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica...istorica/34895-leica-noctilux-1-2-50mm-2.html
not over the past decade or so--but in my time as a student (early 70s), they were IBM punch cards, with the holes punched out to carry data. should've saved some of those
