Isn't Amazon Prime Video available on Roku? There's a link to it here: https://channelstore.roku.com/en-gb/details/13/prime-video. Not sure if it's only available in some regions though...
Amazon Prime is not available in the Philippines. I, too, both have AppleTV (bedroom) and Roku (living room) and honestly I use Roku more. Just the overall ease of navigation through the UI makes it more convenient for me. I could use my iPhone and Apple Watch to control my Apple TV but when I'm at home I try not to use my phone so much.
Mm...well that’s your choice but the Apple TV is extremely user-friendly. As for voice search through Siri on the Apple TV, it works (based on my usage) with Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Now, Hulu, Vudu, Foxnow, USA, SyFy, DC Universe, Bloomberg (hey, AAPL just killed it in Q4 2019.....all-time high stock price...stupid critics, stfu!! )........... etc.
Like I said, I have been using both streaming devices for 2 years now and Roku's still my choice. I know that Apple TV is user-friendly, but I still prefer Roku.
You can subscribe to Amazon Prime through Globe. https://shop.globe.com.ph/entertainment-subscriptions/amazon-prime-video
The Mi Box S will have Amazon Prime Video in the upcoming update per reports. So that may happen with other streaming devices too.
Mm...last resort: re pair it. Baka disconnected lang. was able to resuscitate mine a few weeks back. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203777 It is available at Apple ph.
Getting a second hand ATV from a former PhilMugger who has gone out of country and left quite a number of Apple items behind. I dunno the efficacy of a really vintage but mint-conditioned 2nd gen Apple TV but what say you @raypin ? But will this be able to carry the new Apple TV app or is it a waste of time? Curiously, she never opened the unit and is still boxed but must’ve been 4years ago since it was bought. The square puck lives on!
that's what i have! 2nd gen apple TV. been ages since we got this, still works. been using it for Apple TV+. not sure if I'm missing any feature but heck, i can watch the shows. oops sorry 3rd gen pala, without 4K hehe.
^ yes we still can watch the shows but not in 4K. I still am holding off getting the newer ATV well until Apple decides on bringing out something newer FWIW I had the 1st and 2nd gen until they conked (1st) and got sold off (2nd) years ago at the Marketplace. Now I’m actually getting it back but not the same one, of course. That would be providential.
Mm....TV OS 13 supports 4 th gen and 4K ATV. 2nd gen is not included. If you plan to keep using the ATV for the next couple of years, I would limit the choice to the 4th gen or the 4K. You get some future-proofing insurance just in case Apple decides to introduce more features in the forseeable future. I m not sure about the current interface of the 2nd gen atv. Not aware of any rumored release of 6th gen ATV next year.
^Seems about right but what to do with the 2ATV now? Though I have had some ideas on how to harness its power elsewhere I was thinking more about not tinkering with it. But anyway, it will be here and better to use it maybe as a movie/music hub Somehow that’s what it’s going to be... You’re right about getting the newer ATV because of TV OS13. Maybe some Good Samaritan will bequeath his/her “unused” ATV and I’ll be waiting for that.
Where is the cheapest place to get an Apple TV 4k locally? In US its around $179 now. Don't know if i should get it there or here.
Mm.....just order from Apple PH. US bought is cheaper but you need to add shipping so landed cost evens out the price difference.
