A couple of week's back my iMac G4 800 Superdrive's 60GB 5400RPM HDD started making clicking sounds while reading and writing. I reported the issue to Liteware Computers where I bought my unit and within a week, they pulled out the HDD and sent me a replacement. I was beaming ear to ear when I realized that Apple had sent me an UPGRADED Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 80GB HDD. Just wanted to share with the Mac community at large about my satisfaction on making that switch nearly 2 years ago.:lol::lol: [Edited on 4-21-2004 by alfiesy]
Thank you for sharing with us your Extended Applecare story, ALFIE! Really shows the wisdom in having availed of Applecare before it was too late. Been hearing a lot of good things about Liteware Computers lately. Where are they located, ALF? [Edited on 4-21-2004 by Arel]
AppleCare Testimonials EDIT: Updated my list What has your AppleCare Protection Plan done for you? (I'm talking about warranty claims made beyond your 1-year warranty, if you've purchased AppleCare) Here's mine: 12" Powerbook 867: • power adaptor (twice already) • combo drive • battery • Logic Board • display 12" iBook 700 • LCD • Logic board Mu current 12" PowerBook 1.5 • power adapter •:logic board and display • display again
Burned out a logic board on a titanium pb. Powermac replaced it within a week. Superb service so far.
I just noticed. Thanks to my Combo drive replacement, my PowerBook is now DVD region-free. Isn't that cool?
My PowerBook is turning two and am on the first year of AppleCare. So far none yet, but will have my now 2-hour life battery replaced soon, thanks for the tip Elbert.
Wallstreet - replaced dead HD (with a bigger one) - within 48 hours TiBook - replaced hinges and repainted - within 48 hours Airport Extreme (purchased with Albook) - exchanged for new Power Adapters - 3 replaced (ovar many years and laptops)
It must be if Elbert had his replaced as stated in the first post. Just wondering, how do you know when your battery can be replaced? I mean my Pbook battery hardly goes for two hours now is that reason enough to have it changed or should it conk out on me first? As in not work at all, before it can be replaced? You are right, mistermoya. batteries are replaceable as long as the unit is covered by AppleCare. If the battery lasts for just 2 hours or less, then it's definitely qualified to be replaced. I really don't know what the parameters are, but 2 hours would mean a capacity that's 50% of the original, so I suspect it's based on Ah rating. iBatt is a tool that can help you determine.
hmmm hmmm does this apply to the 1 year international warranty? sorry of my question is kinda out of the topic... thanks
