Surprised there wasnt a dedicated thread for this...

I want to start a thread for SuperDuper users where we can share experiences, problems and help out each other...

I just started it out last night and it took me 2hrs 23 mins to do a complete backup of my PB's 80GB HD (around 20GB free). Is this really slow to everyone's standards? just curious. i am using a USB 2.0 HD. Whats your average speed using this app?

Oh, and is it worth the purchase? I just thought of just making do with one SUperDuper backup, then backup essential files using SilverKeeper... i couldnt make a bootable backup with USB anyway (which is sad)

Can i just boot from my CD then copy back my full backup into my hard drive in the event of a crash?

I backup my macbook's 80GB hardrive with super duper as well.

I got about 20GB free as well and backup takes me about 1hr 10 min the most, but

    I'm using a firewire connection.

I hav'nt purchased this software yet so the other features are still locked, but I'm ok with

    that.

Sad to say you could only make bootable backups if you have firewire connection on your

    external harddrive.

I use Super Duper too! I didnt log the time it took for me to complete the whole backup. Im using a 120GB external harddrive with firewire so im ok with the bootable thing. Problem is... i'm too lazy to renew the backup... cos it takes so long.hehe Times when you wish you bought the program so you can just update the backup. :)

So firewire can be twice faster than USb huh.... hmmm... shucks.I really wanted less cables connected to my PB thats why i got the USB... i connected my HD to a hub. Anyone using USB's out there? how fast are your backups?

There is actually a way to boot from a USB drive, albeit slowly and involves resetting the ram http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060301112336384

for those with bootable drives, are your bootable drives an entire drive or a partition? i was hoping its an entire drive because i tried booting up from partition i couldnt boot.
