This happened to me years ago. With my iMac off, I pushed in a piece of masking tape using a credit card. I used the same card to rub the masking tape and stick it to the (label side) DVD. I simply pulled the DVD out by gently pulling out the tape

Try this option; i have done this twice on ours and it worked on both occasions. Hope this helps:

    "
Tip your iMac on its side so the CD drive's slot faces downward. Restart your computer and immediately begin holding down your mouse button. Do not release the button until you have fully booted back into OS X. This force-eject sequence may work to force one or both of the discs out of the drive."

Maybe you need to bring your iMac to a servicenter so it can be checked thoroughly. Is it still under warranty?

Buy an external instead. Cheaper than repairing an old machine.
