Anybody know of a store /shop in GH that upgrades SSDs? I really want to upgrade my mid 2011 11" MBA from 128GB to at least 256 GB (or higher if budget permits).

hi, suigeneris--if you can't find anything within the next month or so, i'd be glad to sell you (for a very reasonable price) and to install the original 256GB SSD drive from my mid-2011 MBA (exact same model as yours), since i've upgraded to a 480GB, as i think you saw in the other thread. i'm still in the US and won't be home until dec. 7. i can also throw in the external envoy case for your old drive and help you with cloning your contents to the new drive.

let me know if this interests you--otherwise i might sell off my 256GB and envoy case, or even find a cheap MBA with a 64GB drive that i can upgrade for my wife's use. no rush, though, thanks!

I ordered a 250GB SSD drive for my MBA before and did the upgrade myself. Very easy and straight forward. The trick is to get hold of the 256GB SSD drive first since its a scarce item. It's not the usual SSD drives that go around for desktops and laptops.

exactly. you have to be absolutely sure of the compatibility of your new drive, because they vary from generation to generation and maybe even from model to model.

you can get either the original drive that came with the MBA, or a replacement drive such as that offered by other world computing, here (for about $250 including the envoy case and tools):

OWC OWCSSDAP116K240 240GB Aura Pro 6G SSD + Envoy... in stock at OWC
