So who'se getting Spore for Mac? IMO this is one of the upcoming decent titles that's coming out for both Win and OSX so for those guys whose asking what game to get for thier Mac, i think Spore is a must have.
Would you know if it will work on the macbook 2.1? because i read a forum that i will NOT work on all PowerPcs. http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/spores-system-requirements/ Im not sure what the macbook 2.1 video card is. and i think the 7300 card is quite high.
Yes, that is what hemeant. But I think that's a cut down version. It's only a certain stage of the full-desktop version of Spore. @yahoomarco, I'm not particularly sure but I there are a lot of articles out there that says MBs that has the GX300 card can play Spore but the GM950 ones can't.
I believe that's what he was referring to. Spore for the iPhone/iPod Touch was one of the apps/games they demonstrated a few months back. But then again, you're referring to the more heavyweight version--the computer version. If I'm not mistaken, Spore for the iPhone/iPod Touch is also scheduled for release this month...
Damn, if its cross compatible between iPhone and macs, it will be a blast. Imagine giving your instructions or creating a creature spore via iPhone, then it automatically uploads to your Mac when you sync your iPhone.
I am actually wishing if they sold a console version (XBOX360 or PS3?) - from their site, seems like desktop versions lang (PC and Mac).
I was eagerly awaiting this for the kids, and have played with the Spore creator before, but with the advent of "spore"nography, where people create spores that look like people's private parts, I just decided it is not worth the risk for the kids. Sad how some people can pervert technology.
Yeah ive been watching different Spore created look alikes from yoda to homer on youtube, and yeah lots of Spore private parts. Oh my hehehehehe...
DRM seemed to have ruined Spore's release. Too bad they have to use draconian ways to stop piracy...makes gamers lean on piracy instead.
The hardware specs for Spore are as follows: Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher Intel Core Duo Processor 1024 MB RAM ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100 At least 260MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. PPC Graybeards, no Spore for you. And not for you Mac mini owners, and anyone who purchased a MacBook before late last year, as "this game will not run on the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards. TUAW has posted a hack for those with GMA850 video cards: UPDATE: TUAW is reporting a reader named Clancy found a fix for running on GMA 950 Macs. download trial click show package content open resources folder open tginstall.plist in Property List Editor (Having xcode installed helps) Click the root triangle scroll down to InsufficientRenderers Change Intel GMA 950 OpenGL Engine to Intel GMA 850 OpenGL Engine (or something lower) Save and run the installer
@soloworx, interesting find. I'll check if the trial works on my MB and I might buy myself a copy. Edit: Spoke too soon. This was the same tweak I found a few months ago when Spore Creature Creator was out and tried on my MB. This only works on Mac Minis.
Any feedback here on Spore Origins for the iPhone? Is it worth the $9.99 purchase. On the web, some like it, most don't
Honestly? I haven't played it, but: DRM Good, but not incredible reviews (8.0 on Gamespot, 86 on Metacritic—6.7 if by users) I like Will Wright, but I think I'll pass. (Or wait for the 'non-DRM-encumbered version').
