after spending much of friday at home with a cold and a headache searching for free fonts (because i have pitifully few), i have given up. all i have found were fonts for sale. i'm not serious enough about fonts that i'd pay 20 to 40 us dollars for each font, but i do want some more variety other than what i already have. any links? thanks.
thanks. i found that but the fonts are not free. edit: hey, now they are! funny. last time i was in that site they seem to be asking me to pay 24.95 per font. oh, well. thanks so much.
thanks for the font sites, i found them helpful too. but i've a query though, how do i install them and make them usable in ms word? already installed the "olde english" font into font book, but this font doesn't appear on ms word's font list. tia.
hmm. usually just dragging the font into the "all fonts" in the open fontbook window works in my case, unless the font being installed has problems, in which case a new window opens saying that the font has problems and that it is best not to use this font. come to think of it, i have not yet used the fonts with msword. let me go check. edit: i checked. the fonts seemed to work fine in microsoft word. maybe you should relaunch your word? or quit font book first? not sure how to deal with the problem. perhaps others can chime in. and since we're sharing font links, check this out. http://www.moleskinerie.com/2005/10/write_like_jane.html
Maryanne, the Jane Austin font is so cool! Thanks for sharing. If anyone has links to handwritten fonts/typefaces of famous people, please do share. Thanks!
i love that jane austen font. i can almost see her over her desk, writing with a dip pen. i'm really having fun with the font links! i'm not much of a font-y person. classical serif fonts are okay with me (i really use only garamond, although i'm thinking of purchasing windsor light, the font used by woody allen in his movie credits), but i can use those wacky fonts to send notes to my son.
somehow it worked! am soooo shallow but i'm really so happy i got the font to work with ms word. thank you thank you!
As expected, I did say your weekend's not enough Visit http://dafont.com, DJ, there's also Jefferson a whole lot of others. There are others which, when downloaded to the FontBook, will warn you about corrupted files, btw.
i have not come across the jefferson, but i'm excited. i'm sure it really looks super duper vintage. the weekend is now over but i am not yet done with all the fonts! but work beckons, not to mention my UP backlogs for one subject. oh, well. i suppose the fonts will have to wait till next weekend.
Everybody, this is fantastic! http://www.oldfonts.com. Check it out! A co-member of Fountain Pen Network found the link and posted it there. I wanted to share it with you as well. The thread is here: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=12&t=26729&st=0#entry249573
My mistake. The fonts at Oldfont are not for free but you can download demo versions with limitations, and these are free, in the sense that you can use most of the letters for free
