Any recommendations for a low-height (less than 5cm/2in.) soundbar? My Sony sits low, and anything higher would block a part of the screen.

How about the Playbase by SONOS? (pictured below) Your TV can SIT on top of the soundbase (up to 75lbs). It piqued my interest when they announced it last month.

What do you guys think of SONOS and specifically, this 5.1 set up? I'm not an audiophile but appreciates a good sound system.

So this set up is made up of SONOS Playbase, Sub, and two Play:1 speakers totaling around PHP 100-110k including shipping.

Check out the Yamaha YSP 2500 or better yet the newer YSP 2700 :)
Not as expensive but these Sound projectors are the best value for the simple setup and gorgeous sound reproduction.
I've had a YSP 2200 for several years already, just sold it to a very satisfied relative and I'm upgrading to a 2500. No 2700 yet due to budget constraints :)

Would strongly agree with this. Different strokes for different folks. In my case it's more on space limitation but would still want great sound.

I'm currently in the market to buy a soundbar since i'll be moving to a new condo and space is a premium. i'm currently considering these two:-

    1.) Focal Dimension - around Php130k (pricey!!)
2.) Dali Kubik - around 50k (leaning towards this)

Will have to check out the Yamaha YSP-2700. How much is this btw? around 50k?++

I'm coming from floorstanders and have to live with my current reality of trying to de-clutter and make the condo seem as spacious (which means minimalist / limited number of furnitures that take up space) as it can be.

Worst case is a bookshelf speaker on stands (ELAC UB-5) or a floorstander (hello Dali or Focal Chorus 836V) but this would entail having an amplifier, receivers, etc. So equates to more expenditure and clutter. So yes, soundbar for me is the way to go.

If i have extra money, then maybe i can get the Naim mu-so for my bedroom. Hehe. Will just have to say goodbye to my B&W Z2 which has served me well.

Open to other suggestions on the soundbar as well guys. Preferably within the Dali Kubik and Mu-so price range so i can have an additional speaker in my bedroom (hoping for a Naim Mu-so but can settle for AudioEngines powered speakers).

RE: Focal Dimension, the price is not that bad for a speaker and sub combo ~50,000 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Focal-Dimens...2&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=focal+dimension&psc=1

Got one on a whim because it was priced really cheap. All the reviews sounded great on Facebook. Mine sounded basag. It's just sitting behind the TV now, currently not using it. Didn't even bother to return it. :ROFLMAO:

After 2 months of using SONOS 5.1 set up, I could say that this is the system to beat in terms of ease of set up + great sounding speakers. Heck, the playbase alone sounds amazing because of its built-in sub.

can someone please recommend a soundbar between P30k-P40k range? I plan to use it with a Sony x7500e tv, a skycable HD box, and an apple TV 4k.

does anyone here own the Sony ht-mt500? how is it?

I have the Sony MT500, it totally change my TV experience in the bedroom. I like the wireless sub as well as the capability to play HIRES audio. You can also add satellite speakers which I am planning to do. Not sure if it can match my home theater setup

A little over 40k but I’d seriously consider this:

    4D8D64F4-6C38-4507-87E8-91C8201B96A3.jpeg
wireless rears, wireless sub. If i didn’t already have a 5.2.2 set-up, i’d get this. But now i’m only interested in the much smaller MagniFi Mini for our room (y)

New contender from SONOS and at Just $399, it's on my list for my bedroom TV.

Alexa Voice Control via 5 Microphones
TV Volume and (ON/OFF) via HDMI ARC
Four full-range drivers, one tweeter and three passive radiators, plus five class-D amplifiers.
60% less footprint versus Playbar (2.8kg) perfect for ShippingCart (heh)

Looks like a proper SONOS product IMO.

I got one last week and got some connection issues with my Samsung TV. ARC HDMI port not working and found out that Alexa on Sonos does not work here in the Philippines.

Growing pains? Alexa not working here is a recent addition to their geo-blocking. I was able to set up my echo dot to work with my existing Playbase when Alexa support was launched. One workaround is to use VPN on the router-level, which entails use of a router that supports VPN. After that, you can use it normally here in PH.

Recommendations for Dolby Atmos Sound Bars? Is there a huge difference in sound?

Mm...it is a question of physics. No way that an Atmos-enabled soundbar can convincingly surround you with sound (all-around and from above) when the source is just in front of you, with some being reflected off the ceiling. There’s a big compromise. Tiny speakers = lousy sound output. Better off with a proper audio set-up. Ideal is overhead speakers if ceiling mounting is viable.

Atmos porn from Klipsch, without breaking the budget. I think that is a 5.2.2 set-up, good enough for most TV rooms.

I used to have the first gen atmos sony soundbar forgot the exact model and now have a 5.2.2 setup via an atmos-capable yamaha receiver and using a wharfedale set with polk audio sub and onkyo atmos speakers and they sound great. It also helps that my room where it’s installed is only small so the upfiring onkyo speakers do their atmos thingy. Compared to the sony atmos soundbar its night and day difference, the sub’s rumble alone is a clear win for the 5.2.2 setup. Add the enveloping sounds coming from all angles and the full setup is definitely worth ir.
If soundbar is the only option I’d recommend the polk audio magnifi mini, its about half the price of the sony atmos soundbar at 22k and a real bang for the buck. The sony still sounds better but not 2X better than the magnifi mini.
