    Hello @Charlie,

I tried sending you an iMessage and a PM but it seems that it didn't go through.
Anyway, I got a Sony NEX-5N from Digital Walker Zoom Trinoma last week and it seems that the AF is malfunctioning.

I called up the Sony Shop in SM Mega Mall and they said there is a 7-day in-store replacement period for official Sony products that have defects.

I then called up DW Zoom Trinoma, they told me that there is no 7-day replacement policy and that I should bring the unit to Sony Service Center.

Now I am confused on where to bring the unit for replacement. :(
AFAIK, the 7-day replacement policy is standard right? Or I might be mistaken?

Hmm. And I, who bought just the body, have yet to test my camera's AF mech. :)

    Thanks Charlie!

Jai, I have a hunch that you will switch to OM-D from your NEX-7. :D

I won't. :) Just not an olympus fan. And if ever I switch again, it'd be an irrisponsible thing not to go for a red dot.

    Hello.

Using the SEL1855 fully extended at 55mm with AF area set to center in aperture priority mode, try to focus on a subject just within the minimum focus distance. You should not get a focus confirmation beep since the subject is too near.

The green dot on the lower left of the LCD screen should be blinking indicating failed AF acquisition which is normal.

The issue I encountered is that upon releasing the half pressed shutter release button, the green dot still continues blinking and the camera would stall - no more AF, shutter will not release, even preview/play will only display a blank screen.

The only way to get out of this is to change focal length. This seems to make the camera work again. Strange thing though that it only happens at 55mm.

I'm on fw1.01 btw. Tested a 5N earlier at the Eastwood Sony Shop on fw 1.00 and it didn't exhibit the problem. Although fw1.00 AF hunts a lot and has annoyingly slow AF compared to fw1.01.

Could anyone on fw1.01 check if this happens? I am hoping it's just a fw bug.

    Will post a video later.
    Thanks.
