Multiple products have been announced by Apple:

Apple Motion 1.0 (real-time motion graphics package, available summer)
Apple Shake 3.5 (compositing and effects solution for film and HD)
Apple DVD Studio Pro X 3.0 (DVD authoring tool, ships in mid-May)
Apple Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 (video editing, compositing, special effects)

Check everything out at Apple Software.

Impressive! Seems like Motion will be an Adobe After Effects competitor, and more trouble for AVID.

Of the 4, it looks like Motion is the most interesting. Would there be any demos here by either LMK or Ynzal?

    Bob Serrano? Any comments, sir?

While checking Apple Motion specs, my G4 867 barely met the systems requirements soon I'll have no more options but to get a G5.. :(

Like with new Apple hardware, I expect upcoming versions to better and can wait out a little bit... just in time for my G5. Just look at how DVD Studio pro & FCP matured along the way.

We just hope Apple Singapore will launch their Pro digital production regionally so we can have a taste of whats to come. :p

Include in the list XSan, though its really a hardware+software combo.

Downloading this update right now. 27.1MB for FCP HD 4.5; 6.9MB for Cinema Tools 2.2; 36.7MB for Compressor 1.2; 30.6MB for LiveType 1.2 for FCP HD; and 2.6MB for the latest Pro App Support. 103.9MB total! Pretty cool for Apple to make this a free update.

Apple Motion looks really nice. I wonder if it'll do for motion graphics what FCP did for NLE? Killer system requirements though. Even my not-too-shabby Mac needs an upgrade (video card) to run the app.

IMHO, the Motion system requirements just confirm that we're gonna see killer updated Power Mac G5s soon. Check out the Recommended System specs:

    • Dual-2GHz Power Mac G5
    • 4GB RAM or more
    • OS X 10.3.3 or later
    • ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card or better

Currently, the only graphics card better than the Radeon 9800 series (not including the Quadro/FireGL/Wildcat-class pro cards) is the recently announced nVidia GeForce 6800 family of graphics cards. On the other hand, ATI's next-gen Radeon X800 Pro will be be released next week. I wonder which one will make it to the high-end next-rev Power Mac G5? :)

Great time to be a Mac user, especially in the video editing/motion graphics field. New Apple pro apps in the pipeline plus Power Mac G5s. ;-)

Plus the 27.1 MB of FCP HD this sure is a hefty download. Does Software Update support resumption of unfinished downloads?

Adobe should worry more on Apple Shake... still Motion will eat more share as we see easy to use, ready made effects/templates with the look and feel of Livetype and AE.

Been using Livetype for a while and Motion looks like it has more to offer... with the 'behaviors' replacing keyframes... this is a new ball game...

I just hope this has realtime monitor out preview...
