Sorry for the dumb question but I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max locked to smart. Is the ESIM also locked to smart or just the normal sim?

Anyone from Smart who has inside info on whether their e-SIM will still push through?

Looks like Smart is going to offer eSIM very soon, Apple Carrier features webpage update last Dec 9.

I asked Smart about their eSIM. They said it’s now available but only for new postpaid subscribers. Not yet available for those requesting for a change SIM/existing postpaid subscribers.

This is a nice step, I’m guessing they are still ironing out the implementation of eSim. Hopefully it is app/self service based unlike Globe’s which relies on QR card availability and wasteful for the environment.

this is a good sign. I hope they will offer this esim next year and to all stores. Not like globe where specific stores can only process esim. Such a hassle.

Yeah, globe's implementation sucks. Recently renewed my plan. And they offered to automatically provision my sim to a 5g physical sim card. But to 4 days on after the renewal, still nothing.
i tried moving the esim to the new phone. But says profile is non transferrable.

using globe's esim doesn't make sense. Complete waste of resources and time to go to their business centers.

Smart store officer in Megamall says eSIM will come in January 2021

this can make our iPhone dual sim na

they should unlock the sim portion. ESIM should be the only one locked to the specific carrier

Honestly I lost interest on the matter. I feel Smart wont invest on the E-sim infrastructure if there is no guaranteed subscribers. unless there is critical mass of e-sim devices this wont happen for the next 2 to 3 years
