I keep mine on most of the day, I have it playing music most of the day. If I was to go downstairs or something I'd just close the lid. Of course when going to bed I turn it off completely.

I just close the lid whenever I'm done using my MBP, restarting whenever updates requires it.

Every once in a while I'd go for a shutdown, as a filled-up swap file will kill performance.

Before I used to keep my Macs on sleep and restarting once a month - never had a problem. Now all my personal Macs have SSDs so shut down and boot up is ridiculously quick - I don't even see the spinning wheel at the gray screen anymore. These days, I just shut my Macs down when not in use. :)

Sleep. For 2 years now, rarely shut it down since then.

Shutdown. I don't use my MBA everyday, and when I do it boots up in seconds anyway.

Sleep. Only shutdown during updates or at least once a month.
