Why can't I video call on Skype?

When I go to the Preferences on Skype, it says that there's no camera detected. Why oh why? :|

I need to use the video call option because my sisters are in America and we talk everyday using Skype.

    Please help me. Thank you.

Can other applications recognize the iSight camera? Are you using the latest version of Skype for Mac? My wife and I use iSight with Skype and iChat on our Mac and we haven't encountered any issues.

    Yes, I think I do.

I downloaded it on the Skype website when I first got my Mac. And that was 2 months ago.

I can use the isight on Yahoo Messenger. But it won't work on Skype...

Just a couple of follow-up questions. When you go to Preferences and it says it can't detect your camera, you are also not able to select the from the dropdown box (i.e. the iSight camera is not listed there)?

Is there any other application using the iSight camera at the same time you are attempting to use it with Skype?

Yes to the first question. No to the second.

I tried it again this afternoon and now it seems to detect the built in insight. But I can't find the video call option on my Skype??

I'm sorry. I'm not a Skype user so I really have no idea on what's happening..

for your first problem, skype really won't be able to detect your built-in iSight if YM is using it. make sure your YM is not broadcasting or conflicting with skype for the iSight's ... attention. to be sure turn YM off for the mean time and skype video away. :)

    HTH.

I think that was really the problem. I was using the YM video call also when I was trying out the Skype video call. How stupid. Haha.

    Anyway..
